I've decided to take up a new project. I came up with some basic ideas yesterday and I started in on it today. It will be based on my own fictional universe that I came up with in place of sleep last night. Since I just started today, there's not a whole lot to say about the mod yet, although I have some interesting ideas scratched out in a notebook. What I can say for sure is that it will be an attempt to mate A2 RTS with a more layed back aproach of the 4X strategy genre (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate)
I have 3 basic ships for what will most likely be called the Terran Empire. The little green dots you may see are supposed to represent the approximate size of a human.
The cake is a lie. There is no cake.

I'm all for completely made up things like this and I like the look of the designs; big and chunky. I'll be watching.
One of them look similar to the BC-304 from stargate. This still looks great. Can't wait to see it completed, or atleast more ships.
nooooo not another mod with the terran empire , i think i need to change my mod :p . anyways good looking ships
Good looking ships DS, I've probably asked this before but I'll ask again anyway, what program do you use to model?
Why, 3D Studio Max of course. I probably said it before, but who knows.
That's what I assumed it was. I've had 3DS Max 8 for a while now but still haven't actually used it for anything, now maybe I will...
I use Max 7 myself.
The names I'm using right now are not necessarily permanent at this point. I was thinking about going with Houses or Factions of some sort. I plan for only 3 races, but they'll all have very large tech trees. I personally don't like large tech trees when it comes to RTS games, but I love huge and expansive techs in 4X strategies like Master of Orion 3. I'm taking a lot of the good aspects of both genres in order to keep the technology upgrades fun.
Umm... I was planing on making a ship of my own, would Gmax work? Oh, and I do like those ships.
Gmax is fine for creating ships, but you'll need to export it to a program that can export to .sod format. The only programs I know of that have that capability are 3DS Max 4 and Milkshape 3D. Unfortunately, neither program is free, but both have free 30 day trials.
