I would've reused my last thread, but it's already off the first page, so meh.
Some new units here, including stations.
An array of Muffin stations, including an early shipyard, an anti fighter turret, an anti capital ship turret, and an R&d station.
The Gigantan super ship, what they consider a battleship. The "cruiser" beside is the about the same size as any other race's main battleship. They aint called gigantans for nothing =D. Also, their "metal world." It's a huge artificial habbitat, one of the many reasons they are now out of resources.
The new Avian Allaince (part of the League) fighter. If you think its odd that sentient birds designing spaceships in their shape is odd, think about this: they consider spaceships in the same way humans consider mech walkers. The Cats ship also underwent some texture changes.
The new Food gunship, another light unit, serving to further increase the Food's reliance on destroyer sized units.
Anyhow, I hope I'm not boring you guys with my stuff, but hopefully soon I can atleast get some good ingame shots. Enjoy.
looking forward to the ingame screen's ;)
Nice work there, looking good.
Alright, quite a few screenshots here. Hope you guys like:
The Foods power lies in their mastery of destroyer sized units. The light units in the Food arsenal easily best all other races, with the exception of weapons range. They do however suffer from weaker capital ships.
The fleet engages a Muffin attack wing.
Meanwhile, a Muffin battleship stumbles across a Food heavy cruiser attempting to slip past Muffin lines.
The Muffin ship, being overwhelmed by massive bombardment, attempts to outrange the Food ship by moving to flank speed.
The manoeuvre seems to work, as the Food ships quickly begins to loose weapons:
The Food battleship is not able to jump away in time:
Back at the main fight, The battle escalates as the Foods bring in heavy units.
While trying to make it to the party, the Muffin battleship is intercepted, and begins to take missile and gun fire.
The Muffins begin to take the upper hand, despite the flanking food destroyers.
The last Food missile cruiser attempts to slow the advance of the surviving Muffin units... The only way it can.
It enjoys only limited success:
As they pass through the Food lines, the Muffin ships encounter sporadic resistance
Little did the Muffins know, the Foods had been implementing an advanced missile defence on one of their bases. The damage that the fleet had taken getting to the base ensures their deaths. Otherwise the fleet would have stood a chance.
The reason the Muffins experienced such ease when punching through the Food's forward front was due to a simultaneous Gigantan attack on the Foods
A Food Heavy easily tares holes in a Gigantan cruiser.
The Gigantan railguns vastly outrange Food weapons. They are even capable of much more range then is displayed here with proper spotting.
This Food missile cruiser attempts to escape after finding out just how deadly Gigantan railguns can be.
The Gigantan's most powerful warship fires its 8 composite beams at the Food heavy cruiser, causing it to pitch sharply from the direct hits
Lucky for the foods, the Gigantan onslaught was offset by a League attack on the invading force.
The Gigantans dreadnaught lines up for a kill on the League's lead warship... Success
In the end, the League battlegroup fell to the Gigantans, who where forced to retreat from their attack on the Foods, due to heavy losses. The loss of life was tremendous, but no ones aspirations for victory came any closer to fruition. Perhaps next time...
Looking good so far. Still can't help but laugh a little when I hear the edible names.
Out of curiosity, what weapon classes are you using for those missiles? I made a missile with trails, but it is not what I would hope for it to be. I am unable to make a missile that will damage shields.
Antimatter mine, with a sod that is simply an emmiter.
Its annoying tho, there are several more awesome sod based weapons I wish I could base it on, but things like the Klingon boarding party cannot do damage. :(
WOW... just... wow... Very unique and interesting presentation with the screenshots, great looking weapon textures, great looking ships(what's the poly count on some of them?) Always nice to see original content, and are those some new effects textures as well? Should be very interesting to see the final result.
I use the Cardi's Micro organism ordinance for my AIM-54 missile. It seems like I tried anti-matter mines before with only limited success.
I'll definitely be playing this mod when it's completed.
Looking real good there, I also will be one of the first downloaders of this mod. ;)
I too will add my name to the list of downloaders. I enjoyed the "slideshow" of the space battle and I look forward to experiencing the destructive force of Gigantan composite beams... Also I second Draconis question... What are some poly counts here?...
