Hello, and welcome to the Final Frontier. This is an ongoing mod created for Activision/Maddoc's RTS game, Star Trek: Armada II. The Final Frontier mod is geared towards bringing a bit of new life to the game's strategy, as well as bringing a bit of beauty to the aging engine.

-Development

The Final Frontier mod will feature content created by members of the game's modding community, as well as original content. Work on the Final Frontier began back in early 2008, but as of December 08, 2008 the mod was "reset" from it's last version, meaning that while some of the original concepts will remain a majority of the original content will be scrapped due to a new copyright policy presented by the FileFront Gaming Network, and the intention of using the Midnight Universe 2.0 mod as a base for the environmental graphics.

Currently the Federation side is nearly complete, all that remains with them is finalizing some station models and setting up the tech trees. Then work will begin on the Romulan side.

As for release, it will be released when it's released :P There is a "demo" planed for when both the Federation and Romulan sides are completed and are in Beta state. That way players can get a taste of what's to come, as well as give much needed feedback for the next release.

-Features

The Final Frontier mod will feature all 6 of the original races, with a possibility of two addition races (the Dominion and the Reman Rebellion) after their completion.

Players will still research special weapons, but they will also have to research chassis designs to unlock more power and advanced units. Turrets are now one single unit, they have strong defensive systems and powerful weapons, but they take a bit to build and have a limited power supply.

The Final Frontier mod is currently planed to contain these modifications. Please note that the Armada II Patch Project will be required to use this mod, while at first it was decided that a version of the mod without it's enhancements would be released first with an addon patch soon to follow, this is no longer possible due to time and how striped down the first release would be. Also note that the Patch Project will be required to be downloaded and installed separately, ensuring that you will have the latest version and for legality issues. The current list of features are;

Midnight Universe 2.0 - Environment Graphics Armada II Patch Project 1.2.5 - Expanded Gameplay Armada II Physics Project X - Enhanced Physics

Very cool looking stuff there mate, I especially like that shipyard model. Feel free to use any of my stuff you like for this (might save you some time should you decide to include the cardassians, or even the Vulcans ;)) Keep it up, and I look forward to seeing more :)

Looking good so far, if you need registryless textures for the Miranda, or a couple other bits and pieces, feel free to use anything I put out.

Thanks Elevatormusic, I was originally using P81's Miranda class entitled "Avenger class", but this...o.o Thank you for giving me a very good replacement for both the Miranda and the Excelsior, and thank you for your offer :)

The Excalibur class might be added later on, there were a few issues with the one I was originally using and I need more time to sort them out. I've also been considering adding in the Eximius and the Soulwolf class, though they'd be a tad bit out of place, more so for the Soulwolf than the Eximius.
