Hi!

I'm wondering: Is there a way to change Armada II that way: - LAN Multiplayer game - starting units not only starbase, constuction ships and a scout, but in addition to this units the "hero" ship of each race or (if there is no "hero", then two of the strongest ships or something like that).

Is something like that possible? If yes, how?

And another question: Is there an existing map which has - like in Armada I - a graveyard with dead ships in the middle (containing enterprise...)

Any answer would be very nice. Thanks!

aufgreifenHi!
This is very easy to do (all you have to do is make sure that you change the right file and know the name of the hero ship you want), just follow these steps and shouldn't go far wrong. Go to "My Computer" - double click Go to "Local Disc (C:)" - double click Go to a file called = "Program Files" - double click Go to a file called = "Activision" - double click Go to a file called = "Star Trek Armada II" - double click Go to a files called = "odf" - double click Go to a file called = "other" - double click (right, this is where it can all go wrong if you dont know what you are doing, so follow these steps to the letter) You will need to edit a file for each race (6 in total) the files you need are as follows :- Federtation = "fed" Klingon = "kling" Romulan = "rom" Borg = "borg" Cardasian = "card" 8472 = "species8472" Right, once you have found the file you want, go into the properties of the file and change it from "read only" so you can edit it, then open it (I use word pad). NB - I am going to use the "fed" file for the sake of this mini tutorial. scrole down the page you have just opened up until you come across a section that looks like this (or very similar a lot of my files have been edited:- //*************************** //ODF for officer upgrade for starbases officerUpgradeODF = "fedoff" // the things you get when you ask for minimal default units (instead of the map units) minimalUnits1 = "fconst.odf" // construction ship // the things you get when you ask for standard default units (instead of the map units) standardUnits1 = "fconst.odf" // construction ship standardUnits2 = "fconst.odf" // construction ship standardUnits3 = "fbase.odf" // starbase standardUnits4 = "fscout.odf" // scout ship //*************************** The bit we are going to changes is:- standardUnits1 = "fconst.odf" // construction ship standardUnits2 = "fconst.odf" // construction ship standardUnits3 = "fbase.odf" // starbase standardUnits4 = "fscout.odf" // scout ship NB - We will add the USS Enterprise to the starting units. so all we do is add under standardUnits4 = "fscout.odf" // scout ship is a new line with the following :- standardUnits5 = "fent.odf" // USS Enterprise Then save the changes, close down all open windows and play the game. Key points to remember :- Always make sure the "U" is a capital. The names for the hero ship odfs are as follows:- fent.odf (USS Enterprise) bqueen.odf (Borg Queens Diamond) kmartok.odf (Martoks NegVar) ken_special.odf (Powerful Nebula Class) fdata.odf (Data Collector) bmama.odf (Borg Fusion Cube) ckentar.odf (Gul Kentars Keldon Class) kbekta.odf (Klingo Hero ship) rbattle.odf (Romulan Warbird - not a hero ship, but there are none in a stock game) Alwasys back up any files you are about to change (just incase you make a mistake) The text that comes after // is not needed so dont bother with it. You can add as many units as you want just remeber to change the number to follow on, so if we have just add 5 the next one will be 6 (and so on).

Sorry about the double post (edit button timed out and I missed it) Also why dont you follow the link below for a really good Romulan Hero ship (Admiral Sela's Warbird), all you have to do is follow the installation instructions for the mod then get the name of the odf file (loacted in the ship file) and follow the steps above.
