What else can cause the 'out of memory - increase swap file size' error??? Besides missing quotation marks? I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what is wrong with my starting units...not one single unit is missing quotes anywhere....i even stripped it down to a bare construction ship that I KNOW works as i was just playing a game an hour ago and the damned thing crashes. Ive checked every race..kling vs card, kling vs kling, kling vs borg, kling vs dom..and so forth..and its the Federation. Now, i switched my Fed race file with the fed race file that controls my TOS era and that loaded 100% perfect!!!!! and the two files are identical except for starting units. i changed fbaseTOS.odf to just fbase.odf and it crashes. Did you check the spelling in the tech tree and the spellng of the odfs cause that is the only thing I can think of the game is looking for a file it can't find and if they are all still thee then it has to be a spelling error in the name or or n one of the names in the include line.

I'd recommend running your ODF's through this:-

STAUM 2.0 2.0.1 Utility Download, Star Trek: Armada 2 Utilities

It's not perfect, as it misses a bunch of commands that are legitimately in A2 (i'm slowly updating the definitions file on my copy) but it certainly does pick up everything that can cause a crash.

idk what the problem is...it doesn't make sense....all of a sudden they just stopped working...its both fbase and fconst that come up with the error...i even assigned station that i have to build 'fconst' and it doesn't even show up in the build que...i know its in the techtree files...but i can't explain what the problem is....and there are absolutely NO errors in the odfs.....either of them....its a mind boggling problem

Could the single "/" in the following lines be the problem.

i don't think so...because everyone of my ships and stations for a virtually all the races have this in them...with the shields they don't use remarked out.... edit: I just took out every error the STAUM said there was...i even created a ' " ' error to see what it displays and it doesn't even read the quotation mark error...it reads no errors at all... i then corrected the quote error i made..and it still brings the same error 'increase swap file size'

Okay...so i've narrowed it down a problem with fconst.odf and fconst2.odf...but ill be damned if i can figure out whats wrong with them....i took them off of my starbases by remarking them out...and all starbases load completely with no crashes....so its something with those two odfs...but ive run both of them through STAUM and other than a few errors with lines that the editor doesn't know, like the new FLOPS shields and such..there ARE no errors...so little by little im eliminating the problem lol edit...replaced const.odf with another one. when I replaced it there was a slight size difference in the two files, indicating that the one i replaced may have somehow become corrupt. I don't know how...so now fconst.odf works properly on my starbase.
