It's a distinction with no real difference. You still have to try to get in touch. There's no way around it. And just saying you tried isn't the same thing as actually trying.
well..yea obviously thats what i meant...if you can't get in contact with the author you have to credit him....
I am in no way taking any credit at all for this mod. The title of this thread clearly indicates project90 and Wildstar as the "creators".
I've made several attempts at contacting Wildstar, but to no avail. The last post of his (indeed the only posts of his on this forum) were in the threat I linked to in my original post (over 1 year ago). I've searched Google for him and PM'd other people named "Wildstar" on various other forums, particularly several Star Wars and Lucasarts forums (none were him).
The file I've uploaded is just repacked. The README file contains all the appropriate information and credits. My only goal was to let other people play it, because Wildstars original site, which hosted it, died in late 2005.
Even if you take this to the extreme, all I've done is add a mini patch to his final release which literally involved correction of typing errors in two odf files. If that breaks rules, a mod may by all means delete the link.
As a side note; I very much hope Wildstar re-appears, since he was reportedly working on adding another race (it's unknown whether that work was completed). It would also make getting permissions for any other modders that much easier.
You've done your part, and as is, you could very well release the material if you so chose. I know the STvsSW mod needs a good upgrade.
Hey IveGotTheSkill, Thanks for keeping the torch alive ;) I just happened to stumble upon this post! Believe it or not, this is the *real* Wildstar who ran the capricastaryards.net web site (the original home site for this release). I give permission to continue work beyond version 0.76 to whomever wishes to do so. I am not sure how I can validate my credentials as I let my site expire after I got married and found myself with little time to mod. My only condition I would ask is that in future updates that all credits remain in the readme for myself and the contributors on whose material I originally gained permission. I stopped working on the mod shortly after version 0.76 and don't have any new materials to add. I am suprised the music does not work, however, but you may not have my add-on music pack. If interested, I might still have it in archives, but I will need a place to upload it... maybe rapidshare? I gave up the idea of adding the CIS because their just aren't enough models from Revenge of the Sith in the Armada community. I am a developer at a fortune 500 company, so a good coder but not so good modeler. But I would like to think maybe a couple years later that there are some now available. I could share my vision with anyone interested in picking up where I left off. I seldom play Armada anymore as I have moved on to other games. For those who happen to play eve-online, you can contact me through my player "Zac Wildstar" or the GI clan for Empire At War. - Wildst*r
I've been think about doing an upgrade myself as seen in my series of Star Wars based posts over the last few days. If you like to share your vision I'd like to compare it with my own, maybe we can get something even better going. Rod
Are you familiar with the Star Wars Trading card game from Wizards of the Coast? They included several EU ships from the time period around the Clone Wars that I had planned to use to fill in the gaps for the CIS. Here are some example ships from Revenge of the Sith and/or the trading card game. This would be equivalent to the TIE Bomber/Y-Wing http://cargobay.starwars.com/games/card/tcg/jediguardians/trade_federation_droid_bomber.jpg This would be equivalent to a Neb-B or Carrack cruiser http://cargobay.starwars.com/games/card/tcg/sithrising/057_tcgsr.jpg The A-Wing classed ship for the CIS: http://cargobay.starwars.com/games/card/tcg/sithrising/076_tcgsr.jpg Maul's Sith Infiltrator, it would be some sort of "cloakable" destroyer classed ship for the CIS, maybe serve a role as hero ship like Slave-I or the Millenium Falcon: http://cargobay.starwars.com/games/card/tcg/sithrising/023_tcgsr.jpg An advanced fighter for the CIS, similar in performance to an E-Wing and armed with buzz droids as the special weapon to disable systems on enemy ships Droid tri-fighter - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki CIS Providence class battlecruiser, similiar stats to a Strike Cruiser Invisible Hand - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki CIS Recusant class destroyer, picket warship used for anti-corvette, anti-fighter role Recusant-class light destroyer - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki CIS Munificant frigate, logistics/support warship Munificent-class star frigate - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki For the "super heavy" capital warship of the CIS, I was thinking about using the Bulwark Battlecruiser from EU material (Star Wars Rebellion game). At the time I looked, I didn't find SODs for the models of these ships in the modding community and there is a sore lack of appropriate models for shipyards/stations. As part of the gameplay, the CIS race bonus would be "crewless" ships, IE they would only need officers (droids) and no crew. My justification to this is that they wouldn't care less if "life support" was at 0% and there were gapping holes shot through the hull of the ship. As long as the other systems were active, they would keep on flying & firing. Comments?
Well as you said models are in short supply but that might not be a big problem. With the right permisions models from the EAW community can be poly reduced and converted over to A2.
Could you show us the full shiplist of the CIS? I'm curious...
