Hi peeps

Future Tense is standing at about 80% complete. That's the good news. The Bad news is that it's desprately undermanned. There are two of us, Taras (MrVulcan) busy hard coding the SODs with new heirarchy and making the new 'interactive' map items, and myself (Phantom) sorting everything else.

Don't worry this isn't a normal help the mod with models thread. All the models are done, dusted now. The major problem now comes in these sections:

Special Weapons for Klingons, Remans and Romulans. Audio Logs for Klingons (13 Units) and Romulans (8 Units). .AI programers for all 6 Races and NPRs.

At the moment the only special (Other than tweaked basic armada's) are a new Cloaking Field weapon and minefield options for the Klingons and six different Mine types for the Romulan Mine Layer and steath weapons for the Romulans. I need about 20 Special weapons for each of the Klingons and the Romulans.

Any assistance would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Once the races are done, I'll then need supportive AI (ATM they are test beds with no real purpose or strategy) so AI programmers would be good too. Once thats all sorted out, then mission maps and instant action maps can be made and that'll bring Future Tense to 100% complete. Which then FINALLY means a release date can be set

many thanks guys!

Would love to help Adam, Future Tense is one of them projects that has been going for a very long time, and looks to rewrite Armada. Unfortunately, I have no skills in the fields you are asking for. I do wish you luck though, I know first hand that it isn't easy putting a project together.

I've just dropped you an email about the AI. I should be able to help there.

I wish I could help, but I don't know much about AI programming...

Well all I can think of is:

  • nebula creation
  • blackhole creation (is that possible?? one that actually sucks in all ships in a set range?)
  • hologenerator (like what the roms had in ENT)
  • telepresence (something for the remans to have but based off computer override??)
  • good old death chant (although it could affect the enemy instead and cause a increase in weapon recharge??)
  • wormhole creation

I didn't make it!

How about dual shielding like the Scimitar had? something that can be activated to grant double strength or instant recharge usable once? or self-targeting shield projector? Maybe an EMH/ECH that keeps the ship non-derelict but can't die? Switching phaser frequencies to affect power or weapons like in TNG? Sorry to say I've never touched any of the AI programming but i can help with special weps.

Actually since I talk to adam a good bit and kinda still on the FT team, this is the current news...due to recent health issues and his growing and successful work on Parallels, FT is on hold until further notice.

It is said to hear that FT is on hold as it could have given a little bit of new life to the ole girl (A1). I fear that because it has taken so long to get the mod to the user community, the mod’s enjoyment value will be quite small. The dwindling size of the A1 community as well as the ever increasing problem of playing A1 on the newer machines won’t help either. To paraphrase Voltaire, “perfection is the enemy of good enough.”
