Trying to make "ship owner" race icons.. but could I have some help? -1 reply

I've been trying to make some "ship owner" icons for STA2, but I seem doing somthing wrong!

I'm using Paint Shop pro 8

The tga file looks like it should work, but whenever I try to use it in the map editor or the game my new icons show up as black squares.

I'm assuming that this has somthing to do with layers, but the layer underneath is blank all over.. am I missing somthing important here?

I'd apreciate some help with this as it's driving me nuts!

Please disregard my last post.. I've worked out how to do it!

I downloaded "Westworlds big book of modding" and followed the instructions for making a wireframe for "Armada 1" (this shows you how to create and add an alpha channel to a tga file.

I'm going to attach my finished file, the new icons i've created are from Sonic the hedgehog.

They are: Eggmans face, Tails "T" logo, the gun logo

If you use it, and my instructions, it's at your own risk

Note the file name, it will not automaticly replace the origional file. if you want to use the icons you will have to edit your gui_global.spr to tell the game the correct name and "coordinates" of the icons to "cut and paste"

in your gui_global.spr file go right to the very bottom, you should find some lines begining with:

federation_icon

if you want eggman, change one of the lines to somthing like:

_icon allraceb 0 168 84 84

if you want tails, change one of the lines to somthing like:

_icon allraceb 84 168 84 84

if you want gun, change one of the lines to somthing like:

_icon allraceb 168 168 84 84
