Hello, I'm not sure how many of you will remember me, hopefully none of you whom I owe money to :)

My name is Ryan and I have been an A2 modder on and off for 5 Years. Some of you may remember the Twilight Project which I originally lead with Yacuzza. Twilight was perhaps the most ambitious modding project aside from Fleetops I have encountered, the quality of Yacuzza's work was what made it special, though the rushed beta (in which he forgot to include mine and Joelteons odf work) never showed this fully, though I am pleased that Midnight Universe was released, showing a fraction of what we were aiming for.

I have always jealously guarded the archieves of work that exist still on various backup DVDs and such, particually my own GUI work, that has slowly developed over time, now I think, it is time for a change.

About a 8 months I checked with all the orginal contributors to this project, if, should I decide, could it be released. To my delight, Major Payne, Yacuzza, Achillies, Freyr, Elrond, SSA/Tycoon/whatever he's called now, and more modders of greater talent than myself, all agreeed. Also,. the astounding work I have seen by my old friend FahreS is all avaliable to me (unless he's changed his mind :P) hopefully to me re-merged together for a project.

The one thing that has delayed me from making any progress is my reluctance to proceed without the consent of Joelteon7, who took over the project from me after I, being about 15 at the time, found myself unable to cope with the complexity of the workload. His disappearance from the community, has now lasted long enough I feel, for me to take more active steps towards this titanic mod.

Another delaying factor has been my health, I have been having medical treatment for most of the past year which has resulted in me being tired, confused and certainly in no state to mod.

I am doubtful, what with my numerous exams and my starting at university within a few months, that I will make fast progress, so I have decided to work on small, managable releases first, before progressing. I am determined to give the community something at last.

First up, I hope will be a comprehensive GUI package, including the interface, buttons and wireframes myself and Yacuzza have developed. Much of the original work for this has never been released.

Here are some old screenshots I have found of work by me and Yacuzza and some of the other greats listed above. Assuming I can find my password for milkshape 3D and my copy of Paint Shop Pro I will begin right after posting this.

Spoiler: Show
Glows, something I spent a long time refining. Yacuzza preferred a more dense heavy glow that took a lot of time (and nodes) to apply, but I personally made this more gentle look, far softer so better in my view. Snapshot003.jpg

Help me God....I must find where I put this station model! Snapshot002.jpg
Spoiler: Show
Races.....mixed up a little....I'll work on that buttons2.jpg
Spoiler: Show
Not overly keen on this ship to be honest, but the GUI is there FedScreeny2.jpg
Spoiler: Show
I mist have spent a week on this, before this point the only asteriods we had were an entirely sprite based effect. It looked great from a distance but when you zoomed in the 2dness of it was too obvious. asteriods-3.jpg
Spoiler: Show
Elrond's shields with impact flares, single greatest addition to armada, least I think these are Elrond's....I kinda mixed up effects, there is a superb shield texture by Achilles in BI:VR I liked. takingdamage.jpg

Well, like you said on MSN, it is well overdue. I vaguely remember our conversations, though I do remember you telling me about the missed .odf work, and the secret stash on your system. Regardless, it is nice (as always) to see another project in development. I wouldn't worry too much about rushing it either, some projects, as we already know, can take their time. Future Tense, Fleet Operations, Zero Hour, Borg Incursion. I think, to date, Art of War has probably been the quickest released since its mention, but then we all know how easily (and quick) Achilles likes to bash them out.

Hi Ryan, Welcome back! First, I wish to say that I hope all of your medical issues have been resolved and that your health has returned. Second, I would like to wish you much sucess in your higher education goals. Finally, I would like to say thank you for deciding to release some of your jealously guarded files many of which look impressive. I am sure that folks within the community will surely appreciate that decision. :) I hope you don't mind any of it getting ported over to the A1 community. As far as the Milkshape codes are concerned you can email Mete. I've lost my code, what do I do? - chUmbaLum sOft Forum

Thankyou to everyone for the welcome backs. And pepperman I will only grant you permission to use my bodged work if I can make use of some of the true works of art you produce.

I was able to find my milkshape code and my PSP 9 CD. so I'm already underway.

And yea, Achilles, you rock!!

About time you come back from the edges of nowhere :p.

Welcome back, and it's good to see that Twilight is starting to roll again. If you want me to redo that Ulysses model and finish the Yamato let me know, and it shall be done ;)

I would say its fairly safe to say Joel has left Armada now, he doesn't reply to emails I send him.

I knew him for quite a while though, and i'm certain he wouldn't have wanted his work to sit around unused. I'd go ahead and use anything he did for twilight.
