phew - I am happy that these are all your mistakes - I thought I made someting wrong =p

I hereby declare myself "mod tester of the week". and I think a version 1.whatever will be out soon.:bows:

oh and dan - your mod works. it just doesnt work the way you intended (ouch)

:lol: I think "mod tester of the week" suits you perfectly in this case, you're feedback has been invaluable. As for mod not work the way I intended, in the end I decided it was either release it and fix all the bugs people find or spend so long trying to find bugs on my own that it never gets released. And yeah version 1.1 shouldn't take too long :)

Oh, and Dan, when the 1.1 version gets done, send it to me again via e-mail. FF's DL servers are really useless when youre in Asia.

I have fought with the races.odf file for over an hour, and no luck. :uhm: The game continues to crash on Instant Action. I've installed the mod on a separate installation of STA2 wihtout patch 1.1 or 1.2, so there are no other additional races other then the original 8 that the game installs with. Here is what you put in your race.odf file in the mod:

numberOfRaces = 9 race0 = "borg.odf" race1 = "fed.odf" race2 = "kling.odf" race3 = "rom.odf" race4 = "card.odf" race5 = "fer.odf" race6 = "species8472.odf" race7 = "vulcan.odf" // this one is 'uninhabited' for planets race8 = "norace.odf"

Any suggestions on what to alter? And I know its this file that is causing the problem, because I replaced it with the orginal file and the game worked fine, the crash went away. :confused:

If the races file you posted is the one you're using, try opening the vulcan.odf file (odf/others folder) and change the "instantActionSlot" value to one less than the vulcans race number in your races.odf file (odf/others folder). In your case if the vulcans are race7 in your races.odf file change the "instantActionSlot" value to 6.

I had nothing but the game crash when I tried to get into the Instant action. But as soon as I read this thread and changed it from 9 to 8 it works great. As a suggesting for the crew problem. Seeing as how the Vulcans are logical Id suggest instead of colonies make the crew rate go up faster and each station add more crew availablility when one is built. With the borg I tried to make them as real as possible. A Cube has 64000 drone and sphere have 11000. In order for the AI to build them I did what I just suggested in order for me to play against them. And I tell ya they are very hard to play against now.

I mean each station add alot more then usual crew availability. IE 6000/6000. Add new station 6000/20000
