if they are in another game then chances are they are already done, check the a2files main site. you need milkshape to convert models for the main part.

And also remember many models in other games are too big on pollies to be used in A2. I never go over 2500 for a ship model as any bigger and they bog down the game for the lower end pc user gamers.

1. Modding - start off small. Learn to mod the odf files and the like first. A very good resource here is Westworld's Big Book on Modding. 2. Download some good mods you like. Examine them closely until you can figure out how they did what they did. 3. As Achilles recommended, dowload some of the ships here on A2 files or from AFC files and get them into your game. Learn how to make build buttons and wireframes as you go. 4. Get yourself a book on 3D modeling fundamentals and practice doing simple models, maybe a kitbash or two. One of the cheapest application is Milkshape 3d ($25-$30).

Yeah i already know how to edit odf, tech, and sprite files. I would really like to learn how to port ships from other games. For a start i have my eye on the cg sovvy from bridge commander, and yes i know it's 13000 polys. Can it be done. I have a high end perfromance pc.

The BC sovvie has already being converted by for A2 BC Soveriegn by Sherman2

Hint if your going to convert a model from be check the site first chances are someone has already done it. If you want to convert model from BC to A2 its quite simple once you understand how to make basic models and put them in the game. MaP made a very good tutorial on how to put a model into the game you should check.

BTW, Milkshape is a trial program so you can use the thirty days to see if you like it before purchasing it, its only about $20 US dollars and maybe $30 if live in a country Australia where I'm from.

of course with a performance PC you can handle higher poly models than most people but the game itself has limits, the engine can only do so much regardless of what PC is using it, the CG sov may likely be out of it's league if used in any quantity.

Can anyone import models from SFA, I know Tycoon apprently converted the a Romulan ship. I'm saying this because they would make good STA models since they were quite low poly.
