I assume you are talking about converting models from one game to A1, correct. Here is what I have found to work with the least amount of pain and suffering. a. Convert your bmp files to tga files. Note: You need to ensure that each texture file is in square. Examples, 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024 b. Make note of all the material names and their respective files. Delete 1 at a time, recreate and use the tga created in step A. Repeat as many times as necessary. Note: If you had to change any of the texture files becuase they were not square you will have to remap that particuar mesh grouping. c. Redo you heirarchy (hardponits, etc) d. Safe as an A1 sod. Place files into the respective folders e. View in the storm 3D tool
Thanks guys! Pepperman, I will try out your methodical approach at the next oportunity. I didnt realise that I had to re-hardpoint my models. Also, I would like to inform everyone that yesterday lunchtime I fliped a coin. If it landed heads, I was working on the Halo mod first, tails, TOS... It landed heads, so I would like to announce that from this moment on untill completion, I am working on Halo: Strategy Evolved for A1. As I only get a few hours on Sundays to mod at the moment, things will be slow, but never fear - I will get there in the end! Thanks for the help people, and keep your eyes peeled for more info...
Looking forward to it! :)
If they are A2 models you shouldn't have to re-hardpoint them; however, any thing else will require it. That said, you do need to keep in mind that there are some subtle differences between the hierarchies between A2 and A1.
Pepperman, Sorry to be a pain in the ass with a million questions already, But what are these subtle differences? I have like zero experience modding A1. Is there a manual that I can read, like the BBOM or somthing? Thanks.
Three major differences that I can think of include: 1. Damage nodes...especially the ones associated with crew are different 2. Borg stuff 3. Officer quarters There are probably a few more just can't recall them at the moment.
