I would like to see a mod where the computer AI was really 'hard', i.e. you may very well lose the fight if you don't plan. Has anyone ever created an 'extreme' mode for difficulty level on A2? Is it possible. I would do it but I just started to mod and don't have the skills. Plus, I think there should be race betters, as in, 8472 beat borg who beat fed who beat romulan. You may even have to take over a base just to kill off another AI race. What do you guys think?

Well, I expanded the AI by beefing up the build lists. Like 6 turrets instead of 3 and 2 of each shipyard. You can change the locations it builds them at too, so the base is either masive, or sprawled, depending. I did this to the borg (all 5 files) and if you don't start working them over early, they'll get out of hand... You can do it, it's not that hard, just make the same changes to all 5 files. (Like borg_build_list.aip for ex.) Make sure to test it out using the fastest setting with free resources, (that way it doesn't take long) After the game has started, just put an asteroid belt between you and the enemy and if it makes it to the last station, your changes have worked. :p Try to avoid like 20 turrets at once, or too many things in the same location. If the AI can't get within a certain distance, it won't build it. Also, don't change too many things at once, it makes troubleshooting a nightmare! Anyway, have fun!

or we could just have the AI start building Heaven class ships from Temporal Incursion or the removed ncc-1701-z....

Well. There is a way to beef up the AI an dmake it as powerful as you really want. Basically it involves creating a second set of units which are AI specific. It would go similair to this:

- Shipyards and starbases have two sets of units in their build lists (basically for A2 this is 7 player buildable, 7 AI buildable). The AIP's are set up so that the AI can build only the AI based units. The AI can be made to not require tech trees so those are specifically for the player only. - Construction ships are layed out in the same way as the shipyards/starbases.

AI based ships and stations are made to be very cheap but exceptionally powerful. I mean this is just a base idea to go on, but is how a cheating AI was created for A1 a good long time ago.

You all talk about building stuff, but what about if you attack one of their outposts, will they send a fleet after you and until dead chase you about?
