Right, about five months ago, i downloaded Greathor's Excelsior Refit (the one with the glows) but i have encountered a strange problem, which no doubt is easy to fix.

Now i only noticed this a couple of days ago and since then it has become a pain. Here is a picture of what i am encountering.

It is as if the dorsal texture on the drive section is gone. Now i thought it was a problem related to the Alpha Channel's, but i was wrong as i have tried removing it from the texture, but with no effect. Any of you have any idea's?

I could be wrong but looks to me like somehow the faces were inverted (so the textures are on the inside) and the backfaces, by default rendered black. Short of importing it into a 3d program, I wouldnt be able to tell if this is the case or if its a more bizaare error.

Good thinking, but i have just imported it and it turns out that the problem isn't related to the backfaces, which in my opinion can be a pain in the arse sometimes.

Have you tried re-doing the texture and placing it back in the Textures folder?

How do you mean "re-doing". I have removed the Alpha Channel from it with no effect, or do you mean something else, if so, could you elaborate? has anyone got an idea of what the problem may be?

Hello::cya: Could you fix the problem Gavin?, I was about to reply but I could just came up with the backfaces error that appears when you import models like the stock Intrepid, if that's the case then it can be fixed, so I hope you could fix the problem by now since you are a good modder/modeller.:D

It wouldn't be a revesed vertex or face. If a face or vertex is backwards it ussually doen't show up in the game, it does in MS3D but is transprent in the game.

Try fiddleing with the actually game settings sometimes it is related to the game not the model, like the SWFC ISDs are transparent without light, on some machines if bump mapping on. Its just an idea. Try contacting Adam_Atlantian he seems good with lighting or Greathor who made this ship.

Gav, send it to me later, I'll have a look at it for you. I've had a fair few experiences with that sort of thing and believe I can sort it out.
