Well ladies and gentlemen, it seem's I have encountered a small problem when installing a new ship to armada2. The ship is not anywhere to be downloaded yet, in fact, I was conducting a suggested test and fortuneately picked up this problem before uploading it. The situation: Version - 1.1 Clean bar this new mod. -Files added - Texture files, sod, ship odf. -Files Changed - gui global, tech 1, fulltech, fyard odf Now, I know how to add a ship into the game and all the entries match and I cannot tell of any problems with any edited files (I've also checked the files that I added, they all check out no problemo). Gone in game and whoa! It ain't there. Physically ain't there. Go to my shipyard and the buildbutton/space for the ship is just not there. Try fulltech and the same problem. So I ask, how can all files added properly and assured files changed correctly be cuasing an error of this kind. I'd be happy for all input be it the simple stuff or the complicated stuff (whilst I do know how to do this basic modding, I must confess it has been longer that it should've been adding a new ship to the game, so I could've overlooked something).

The only things I can think of as possible (granted I'm no modding whiz) is that something's missing from tech1.tt if it's in the yard. If it's not in tech1.tt then it tends not to show up in the game.

Check to make sure that the names of the files listed in the techtree/gui_global files are the same as the .SOD file, and that the .SOD file has the same name as the .ODF file. Sometimes it happens to me (like when I yoink'd the Excelsior B out of a MOD that used it 'cause I don't trust myself writing scratch .ODF files) that a misnamed file gets me either a bug-box, a white-space build button, or no ship at all. If you've already checked the techtree and that didn't clear the problem, it might be the .ODF file name.

An easy way to test it would be to add it to a race.odf as a starting unit. If it shows up there, it'll tell you it's probably a naming issue. There are several other things to consider... There's a 14 ship limit to the station build list; make sure the odf isn't asking for a different sod with the baseName command... It might be easier if I could take a look at your changes, if you want me to get it to work. Send me a PM, if you want.

- The matchin up of naming issues is fine. - Tech entries are fine. - Kel, I'm gonna try your idea and then I'll send you the mod if I can't figure it out. I hardly doubt the developer will mind if I'm trying to sort it out.

EDIT : Kel, it didn't work. You'll be recieving a pm shortly.

What comes to my mind is what happened to me recently. Check the runtime class label of the new ship(s). Things have disappeared out of my build list becuase I've changed the runtime class label. I.e. runtimeclass label = "shipyard" or "fed_destroyer" etc. (This happened when I tried to change the nature of some stations/ships)

Oh, I should've locked this thread as the solution was found, but thank you for your suggestion archerscott. It turned out it was a perculiar mis-entry in the gui_global.
