Hello together, sorry for my bad english. But I have a problem! I play gladly Star Trek Armada 2 to Babylon 5. But when I play with lots of Races and lots of ships, and the ships are destroyed, so the game does not run any longer liquid. I think, it is because the ships disintegrated into many individual pieces. And now my Question. Can I reduce the individual pieces of the destroyed ships? So the one ship only into two or three pieces disintegrates? I would be pleased much if me someone could help. Thank you Pretender1980

Welcome to Gaming Forums!

Ok - for your problem you are going to have to open the ART_CFG.h file located in your Armada 2 install directory. Open this file in a text editor (notepad, metapad, textpad, what ever text editor you like best)! Then find these lines: // // GRAPHICS // // Storm3D chunk manager parameters. int ST3D_CHUNK_MANAGER_MAX_CHUNKS = 1500; float ST3D_CHUNK_SIZE_FACTOR = 0.5; float ST3D_CHUNK_LIFETIME_AVG = 100.0; float ST3D_CHUNK_LIFETIME_DEVIATION = 2.0; float ST3D_CHUNK_MAX_ANGULAR_VELOCITY = 4.0; float ST3D_CHUNK_MAX_VELOCITY = 90.0;

The above are my lines as they are now, but you will be dealing with this line: int ST3D_CHUNK_MANAGER_MAX_CHUNKS = x; x is the number of maximum destruction pieces on the screen. Mine is set pretty high. Set this to whatever you like. Also, experiment around with the other numbers as well. I've never tried changing the size factor variable - don't try that unless the max_chunks one doesn't work. The chunk_lifetime_avg is the amount of time, on average, that the chunks will remain on the screen - as you can see, mine are set very high - usually this is set anywhere from 2 to 4. But I wanted stuff flying around damaging other units. But in your case, don't increase your lifetime_avg variable. I hope this can help you! :)

Hello Elrond1982, I Thank you very much for your help. The changes in the file function and the play run now clearly more calmly. :) For Babylon 5 I already modified some things. Something in the AI List or with a few buildings. And I also translate into German something. I come from Germany. :) I love this Game :D thank you again for your help. cu Pretender1980

I'm just glad I could help a fellow Armada 2 fan! :) Cool, you're from Germany! Some of my dad's family is from Germany and Ireland. You translate pretty good here! I'm glad the game runs smoother now! You've been modifying the AI too - that's pretty tough sometimes. After many failed attempts at reworking my AI, I finally learned how to mod it well enough that my mod can go forth (Universal Armageddon Mod - takes place from the year 2379, the year of Star Trek Nemesis, and goes to 3250 - some places in time were uneventful times in the timeline where wars didn't happen). But there are going to be two mods - the first will involve the many wars between the Federation and the Borg over a period of 500 years (5 wars, the last one being called the Great Galactic War). The second mod will involve the survival of the Universe and will pretty much involve the most impossible enemy anyone could face! But yeah, I love Armada 2 as well - it is by far one of the funnest games ever! There are the classLabel restrictions which prevent modders from making various things happen in the game (like building pods on pods isn't possible). But there is something new all the time these days. It's amazing that the game is already three and a half years old and it is still so widely played and enjoyed! I think the game gets a 10/10 for replay value and fun factor, and a 9/10 for moddability (compared to other games). I one time spent an entire day (a full 24 hours) playing this game! Also, the Babylon 5 mod is great! I like the intro movies they put in the mod! :)

Hello, thats great so you have some people from Germany. My familie ist also from Germany. from where do you come? I did not think it so heavy to modify the AI- list. I have only changed how much ships to build and what ships are would build from the AI. That I not can, that is create new ships' and textures'. I really find that very very difficult. Can you it? Your Mods are very interessting. Can I play it or downloading? I'm also playing Fleed Ops and Narval Armada. Fleed Ops are very good. and Narval Armada is also good but very instable. I habe the game also 2 years. And I very often play it. And with the Mods. The Game ist very interessting for the future. but 24 hours playing the game, thats not my thing. :uhoh: cu Pretender1980

Yeah, you can play the mod, but I haven't released it yet. It's over 300 MB in archived size - I'm trying to get that size down by eliminating some unncessary textures, which more than anything take up disk space.
