Ok in milkshape 3d I can use the texture co thingy to get the textures in the right place on my model however I cant get textures in the right place on my ships saucer which was made from a sphere it just wont work could some one please help me. pics attaced 1.model selected 2.texture thing 3.after remaping 4.looks rong ment to be going around the model like on a galaxy class soucer but insteed its all wierd
I think you'll want planar mapping rather than sphere mapping. Map the top and bottom and maybe the "rim" seperately, and should work fine :)
thanks but when I try to select the top faces it selects all the faces
be sure you have selected: select -> face -> face by vertex then select the top saucer, then open the texture coordinate editor and then remap it from the top perspective
Or, turn "select backfaces" off. That helps when selecting one side of a shape.
It worked thank you both of you
One tip about this you will probbably hear alot is saucers should never be made out of spheres, you save loads polies if you use a cylinder instead and the shape is quite often nicer too, give it a try you'll see
