The game crashes after a ship or station is built If people will help me out with this, they will get credit in my Ultimate All Races Mod. In this mod I need help editing the AI files to play all that I've added to the game, some ships that I want the AI to use I have notice that ist's using in Instant Action game for they have been set to their corresponding races odf file and the AI used them just fine but I beleive the AI will have to be edited for them to appear in the game during the Campaign missions which is my ultimate goal for this mod. Can anyone help me with these problems?

"My errors consist of modders mistakes that they won't admit they've made" "I've found odf mistakes that the modders that created the mods shouldn't have missed but they did then released their work that everyone here says I had to make the errors happen." Ok those lines along with the general tone aren't gonna garner you much support, neither is downing the Starfleet Kid. Anyways as I said previously I will attempt to help you, also I'm a fair hand with AI's if I do say so myself. So let's take a look at what you're trying to do, and where things have gone awry.

The reason the kid has told you to start from scratch and add in files one at a time, testing them as you go is because it is how he would fix the problem himself in your situation.

You don't know which file is the problem and the only way of establishing that is to test it. Having done this three times you should know which mod caused the game to crash each time after being added? By going through the files included in that mod you can then figure out what it was that is causing it to crash.

Anybody is welcome here regardless of how old they are, or which country they come from. The one thing that we do care about is that you MUST show everybody the same respect and courtesy that everybody deserves.

I am unsure if it is your lack of a good grasp of the English language or some level of peevishness and petulance on your part but you seriously need to stop what you are doing on these forums and acclimatize to how we do things around here or you will face a ban.

Do not disrespect others. You have been warned.

I've been testing each file as I put it in the game. I know to do that, I add one ship or station then I test it, I don't just test to see if it builds and doesn't crash the game, I check to make sure it moves right (since I've had some not move at all, and I've never done anything to the file to cause that either), finally I test the weapons out by attacking the AI's ships/stations/planets but mine instead since its an Instant Action game and I don't care about defeat then. Once I know all is fine with the ship, I end the Instant Action Game and go on to the next ship or station to add in. I've already been going from scratch, I've had the same errors three different times after reinstalling the game. Therefore I know its not me, I've checked each ship or station after downloading them in the storm3d tool and they have the error of being a white box with a bug on it right off the bat (NO ONE IS GETTING THAT HERE). I'm trying to show respect and being courteous, in fact personally that's all I am, I respect other cultures, I'm not a racist person or any mean one either, but when people keep blaming me for mistakes that I'm having and others of my friends are having too and we didn't do anything to change the mods we install and then have the exact same problem with the exact same ones, its not me then. What I'm trying to do here is get this community fixed to work right and do things right, that's why it was almost shut down, my friends for starters got me into wanting to mod my game then we decided to go with many of the same ships and stations. If one had a problem with what they downloaded all five of us got it then when we all had the same problem with the ship or station we knew it wasn't us (We all have different modding capabilities and I'll admit I've just started compared to them but they don't know and are confused about the AI too). I'm not disrespecting others, you all are doing that by not offering help when we first asked for it. Our asking (from all my friends has made them leave and they complained about how they were being treated here to internet companies that monitor sites, now Kyle, Sam, Sarah, Jiro, & Akiyama (some are Japanese I hope you know) left here and don't want to ever come back because help pleas fall on deaf ears and they too were blamed for the problems they were exsperiencing.) Now that you know that I'm not the only one with these issues lets say this, including me, my friends and I are using 3 Vista Home Premium laptops and 1 Vista Basic desktop PC, and the last still has Windows XP, each comptuer is showing the same error with the same ships/stations appearing in game after their complete as a white box with the red bug on it. Does anyone see that I'm not the only one getting the same problem, I too thought it was just them making the errors then I find that we all had the same problem comparing notes and our games. There is no way I'm uninstalling and reinstalling my game to prove to you that the same files are doing the same things again as they've done before, appearing as white boxs with red bugs on them or crashing the game. Instead I've been keeping a Modding notebook that has a list of everything that I've put in and if it works I put an arrow on top of the check mark that means I've downloaded that file, if it doesn't I put a sad face by that ship or station and write beside it what went wrong, then check the odf files and all my work done to find any mistakes, a few times I found the mistake came right from the read-me file that the mods owner wrote and I copied their msitake (and so did my friends) because we thought they were right. The key we learned there is NEVER TRUST A MODDER WHEN THE E-MAIL ADDRESS THEY PROVIDE WITH A MOD ENDS UP BOUNCING BACK ANY E-MAIL MESSAGE AND YOU DON'T GET A REPLY FROM ANYONE WHEN YOU LEAVE A COMMENT ON THE MODS DOWNLOAD PAGE. I WILL NOT UNINSTALL MY GAME AND THEN REINSTALL IT JUST TO ADD OVER 200 SHIPS AND STATIONS (Total for all races) when I'm still working on the Federation which has the most and right now its only a few out of all that I've put in that have these issues. I've been able to edit the "Events" file, the individual Race files, add weapons and cloaks to ships (and stations) just fine with them working and not crashing the game, my problems are always with the same mods even after I remove them, delete the download file I have of them and redownloading the file here, the problems continue happening that's why I use the storm3d tool on these mods after I get them and fine the mistake still there (if its the one with a white box and red bug on it). I know then that is not me it has to be the creator, specially when the same problem kept happening to my friends with the same file as the one I'm having problems with. I would have attached My Mods Read-Me with everything I'm using and part of my idea that I've been working on and my a .txt file with my Cardassian Build List that isn't working from the Cardassian Full Race Mod, but your file uploading part idn't working when the documents are .doc format and under 1mb and the text file is under 102.4kb (doc. is 55.0kb and the .txt is 8.03kb). My next post should unless something is written against what I'm trying to do will have the issues that my game is exsperiencing, for each race, these are the same issues that I've had before in the past months when I've uninstalled and reinstalled my game and is the same issues my friends have been having. Thank you. **** Side Note: I have a good grasp in English, I'm studying to be an ESL Teacher. I get very good grades in English class, I'm also good in Japanese, but when I get mad at people who don't want to listen to the errors thinking their right and I'm wrong without even seeing it for themselves then that's a problem.
We do get it. You are just being an ass about it, if you have a problem with an individual mod then fine post it on the forums but with what you are saying it sounds like you are downloading every single mod then bitching about them not working.. How come no one else in this community (bar your "friends") has these issues? Because you are not reading the readmes correctly. You are not installing the mods correctly so maybe you should read the readme's more intently.

jetnova16;4909590 What I'm trying to do here is get this community fixed to work right and do things right, that's why it was almost shut down.
We appreciate your attempting to fix us, but we've been fine like this for the last ooh 9 years.. We don't need you to fix us.

jetnova16;4909590 I'm not disrespecting others
Yes you are. Many of us seem to agree so we can't all be wrong?

You give me usernames of these friends of yours so we can check their existence. Also you can get the pope and his chronies to monitor us, they have no authority over these forums so stop wasting time complaining to "monitor sites"
There is no way I'm uninstalling and reinstalling my game to prove to you that the same files are doing the same things again as they've done before

So you are complaining about lack of help and when it is given you simply don't take our advice? Man you are seriously in the wrong here.

See there? there is your problem - a bad attitude.

I suspect that some of your frustration comes from a lack of understanding...a lack of understanking about modding the game as well as a lack of understanding about the modding community. First, there are mods are various sites for download. Some of these are better than others. Some range from complete mods to just the bare minimum (a sod and texture files). Many of the mods are no longer supported by the mods creator. In other words, the creators of these mods have moved on to other things in life and have 0 interest in Armada anymore. So getting support them is going to be problematic. That's were the users come it. Many people continue to use these mods but they have to learn about these issues and fix any problems themselves. Now for the little white boxes. When you get these in the Storm 3D viewer, it is typically a sign that the model (i.e., the sod file) is messed up. For example, if you try to use an Armada 2 model in the Armada 1 game, chances are you will get the little white box. What this means is that that respective model isn't going to work in the A1 game, period. Now, if you have downloaded an individual ship and/or station mod for the game of choice and you are getting this error the only option you have is try to contact the creator and she if there is a fix. The the mod is old, it is quite possible that it will not be supported so the only real option you have is remove it from your game and move on. Just keep in mind, that the whole modding community is a volunteer community. No one is getting paid to help! People do so cause they like what you are going and/or want to feel good about themself and help folks in distress. What I would do, is create a seperate help thread for your AI issue. Pick one race, a start describing what you have. Use a txt file if needed as it will be smaller than a word document. 1. List all of the ships and stations you have in the game for that race 2. Provide a copy of your tech tree 3. Provide a copy of your AI files to date. 4. Provide an accurate description, as to what the AI is or isn't doing. For example, do some ships get built while others don't. Do the game crash at a certain point with the AI in control of the race.

I follow all read-me files to the "T", I do exactly what is said in each file, I do what the Mods creator says, I'm not bitching over every mod not working out of all the ones that don't work, I have many working perfectly and showing up right, if I was causing these problems they would show up on every mod I have installed, they don't. I follow the read-me's and do exactly what they say, infact there are some modders here that I would actually compliment, Pepperman included, I've gotten help from him and just a few others on mods that I've had problems with, and I thank you Pepperman for telling me that some A1 mods work in A2 I got two, you created that I'm enjoying and can't wait to get the AI to use them against me. Thank you, soon I'll make a list of modders that I've found to have the best work in my game and to compliment them. Your just the first.

I don't have a bad attitude and I'm taking Pepperman's advice about posting a copy of my techtree, sprite, and AI files, and I'm in the works of making a list of everything I've put in the game and how it works or doesn't work. And I get its the sod files causing the white box with the red bug, I've never edited sod files so it wasn't my fault but some of the mods doing this are newer ones that just came out in my case. Show me courtiness and politeness and you'll get it in return.

jetnova16;4909590 We all have different modding capabilities and I'll admit I've just started compared to them
And yet you dismiss advice from seasoned vets who have been modding this game for years?
jetnova16;4909590 I'm not disrespecting others, you all are doing that by not offering help when we first asked for it.
So, as a member of this comminity, I am expected to answer every plea for help, whether I know the answer or not, or I'm disrespecting you? Have you seen how old some of the mods are? You dont seriously expect everyone of those modders to still be around here after all these years do you? Let alone still have the same contact details. I myself have had 5 or 6 different e-mail addresses over the last 10 years.
I WILL NOT UNINSTALL MY GAME AND THEN REINSTALL IT JUST TO ADD OVER 200 SHIPS AND STATIONS
Ok, enough with the shouting. It's just rude. You dont want to do it. Fine. Your loss. We've all been in your situation. We've all learnt the hard way and lost months of work in the past through similar situations. That's part of the learning process in modding. We know it's damn frustrating, but shouting the place down gets you less help than you had to begin with.
I get mad at people who don't want to listen to the errors thinking their right and I'm wrong without even seeing it for themselves

Yep, works both ways. Modders get annoyed at people trying to instal their mods, but wont listen to advice.
