Hello. I'm a frustrated A2 player. I'd like to be able to add ships without installers, but I don't know how to access the folders that have to be modified, and I have yet to find a read me that does. Can anyone help me?

Well if your talking about the location of the program folders than there located in the c drive program files\activision\star trek armada II. But if your talking about the program files you can open tech tree files, odf files, and sprite files in word pad. Left click on them select open with in the drop down menu then word pad. I use this method all the time. Also tou'll have to select all the files you wish to alter select properties and in properties un check the box next to read only. if you don't do this last step it won't allow you to save your changes. Final note when saving hit 'save' not 'save as'.

Right, I know that the folders are in the (in my case) E: drive, but I don't know what I go to to access them. The only folders I have are bin (which is just autorun stuff) and Setup (which has a bunch of stuff that is not related to the game files). The only time I was able to find the program files was when I was given the full name in the mod's read me, though the mod didn't include all the instructions I needed.

I strongly suggest you refer to this:

Westworld's Big Book of Modding. It teaches you how to mod, and I found it pretty easy.

I only read it back about 2 years ago when I got back into modding after a years break. I just wanted to brush up on things.

I remember when I started back in 2000 there were no tutorials out to help us. Those were the good old days were Armada 1 was relative new. :D
