sup people, i am kinda new to the whole modding idea, so can anyone plz explain to me how to at code to the gui_global/any other file that can be modified. oh and i learn better with examples. thx a bunch:confused:

The examples are already there, download some ships and look at the files, what's in them and where they go. Then try the BBOM, or Big Book of Modding by Westworld

If you just haven't been able to save them thats because there all readonly by defualt, and unless you have an advanted editer you will need to make them non-readonly to edit them.

the only things i am trying to change is the gui_global.spr, techtree.tt,and some .odf's by adding lines of code

Your ask is far more difficult than answer it in one post. Basicly gui_global contains the strings tell the game which buildbutton and wireframe belong to which ship. Techtree contains the necessary techs and stations to build a ship or station like this: SHIP.ODF (space) HOW_MANY_TECH_NEEDED(this is a number) (space) TECH1.ODF (space) TECH2.ODF (etc.) (space) //<--THIS IS A COMMENT-->

lol no, you have it already. Open those files with notepad (the windows editor) and your fine.
