Is it possible to add new maps to the Armada 2 Demo, and if so, how is it done?

I don't think its possible, i'm fairly sure the demo is locked down to a single skirmish map by name in the coding of the demo executable.

Its worth finding out though, because modding the demo is something we need to start doing. If we can offer a full mod through the demo (see SWFC) then people are more minded to go out and get the full version of the game which ultimately I see as being the best way we have of making it as a community for another ten years.

I was unable to make the slightest change in the demo... and still have it work.

Has anyone been able to mod the demo at all?

SWFC did, I'm fairly sure you can do whatever you ODF wise as long as you put them in the stations folder.

You need to make a copy of whatever stock ship you are going to alter and put that copy in the stations folder. The copy in the stations folder can then be modded without messing up the game.

Yeah, the devs screwed up both with the programming and the fact that the demo has no license.

I tried it and it didn't work.

I moved fscout to the stations folder and up it's strength when I click to load the game it puts me back to the main menu.

Is the SWFC Mod from the Demo?

I did cut and paste, I'll go back and just copy it

This is the SWFC mod :- Star Wars Fleet Command, Star Trek: Armada 2 Downloads, Star Trek: Armada 2 Total Conversions

I'm not sure why the stock scout wouldn't work if they can get away with changes of that magnitude unless the ODF's they included are specifically locked down by name.

probably because you left the fscout.odf in the ships folder aswell, you can't have 2 odfs with the same name.
