Most likely a missing quote mark in an odf somewhere

Most likely not.

All you have to do is go to control panel, system properties, then click on the advanced tab and then the settings button, then another advanced tab and then click on change where you see advanced settings. Select the drive you installed the game on (C:\ or D:\ or any other) Then choose custom size and increase the minimum two 250MB and the Maximum to 1,000MB. That should fix your problem. It might be slightly different, depending on whether you use XP or 2000. If the problem continues, just keep screwing around 'till it works. Oh, by the way, you might want to buy some heat sink. Watch G4 TechTV once in a while or go to www.g4techtV.com They should be able to answer questions, especially the Screensavers. Sometimes its good, sometimes its not.

Increasing the swap file size is not really a good thing. It just allows your computer to store more information on the much slower harddrive rather than storing it on the much faster RAM. And I still believe that he will experience the out of memory issue.

John Kerry, just take a look at the last thing you modded into your game. Check all the odf's corresponding to that mod and look for missing quote marks. The number of ships in your game mean absolutely nothing when loading the game in reference to memory usage. It doesn't load every ship you have every time you load the game. I have 20 races installed in my game. Most of them have at least 30 different ship types. Some of them have a lot more.

It could be either one, since I have experienced both. It really all depends on what's being loaded. Try playing it in instant action under a different race. You might eventually find the ship or station that's causing the problem if that's the case. Unless you've been messing with the .odf files (opening and changing contents), it could be that you have overwritten an important file, such as the gui_global file. It could also be that you deleted a file, which there are many different files that could easily cause problems if deleted. In order to help you, we will need you to tell us exactly what you've been changing or doing to the game. If you haven't modded it, it's probably the swap file size, though it is unlikely, I see no other choice if you've changed nothing.

Many a time have I seen the same message when modding A2. Check all of your ODF files that you've tinkered with lately. It's not the swap file. Check things like; names of weapons, missing quotes, even something simple like a weapon that you've called "fcphass1", when it really should be called "fcphas1". Class labels, the "#Include .odf" command. Try playing as different races and assign different races to the AI to try to narrow down where the problem is.

Because I'm Vulcan. While he was reading the thread, I mind-melded with him. Come, Draconis... I must have your thoughts *reaches out with hand*.

Because we have never seen that paticular error relate to anything other than a missing "" when in relation to Armada!! ;)
