I installed the Breen Frigate by Chris Lusky and when I go to look at the ship in the map editor it crashes to desktop. I've added many ships the same way and they all view fine. Would this have something to do with the SOD or TGA's of that ship?

rifraf. Have you tried adding it to the game and checking by playing with the ship?? It could be a problem with any part of the model. The map editor still uses the ships ODF so to start with you could try using the SOD editor/viewer. If the ship shows up fine in that then its an ODF problem. If any of the textures show up as missing, green color scale, or distorted then its a texture problem (could be a compressed texture file). If the SOD shows up as the dredded SODOFF box then its most likely a bad root node. If the model has sections out of place of flipped/inverted then its most likely the vertexes haven't been welded.

What was the web addy of the Frigate?? It might help if someone else takes a look.

Ok, this is for A2 and the addy is: http://Rawrmada2.filefront.com/file/Breen_Frigate;98344

I can view the model in Storm3d just fine. It sez it's for Art Of War but I installed it into my modded stock game. I feel I added it correctly, changing one thing about the research pod for the speshul weapon since theer is no "dompod" in my game. He did has #include "brndestroy.odf" at the top of the ship odf, making his own include odf which then had #include "craft.odf" in it. Just out of curiosity I changed the ship.odf to #include "cruise1.odf" and left out his extra include file. Still crashes in the map editor. I haz nawt try a game wif it but will do so and see if it plays in theer or crashes as well.

[Edit] finded the problem. In his 2 pulse can opunrz files he was using #include "rpulse.odf" an "rpulseo.odf" which aren't in the stock game so I changed to"pulse.odf" and "pulseo.odf" which are and now it shows in the map editor. Now will test in game to make sure all is ok. Every time I type "found the problem" it changes to finded? Technology. :) By the way how do you get a ship to attack another ship in the editor?

You can't in the map editor. The only viable way is the following:

- Make a tester installation of your game which remains unmodded completely. - Create a very small map with just two starting points (that means, no resources or anything else). - Create a very basic mod which disables construction of ALL units and structures for both player and one of the AI races - Place the units you want to test into your testing map and then try a quick test in regular skirmish.

You'll find it can take a while, but the loading times are extremely quick and both sides will have a single starbase to use as a target.

With regards to this unit. My advice in future would be to just copy/paste the hardpoint numbers only to your new ODF file. That way you should never encounter this kind of error.
