Hello all, Im new here so hello :) Sorry to introduce myself with a problem but its driving me crazy, I used to love playing ST:A on my old PC and still do sometimes on my laptop.

IVe hada new PC for awhile now with the nVidia 8800GTX Ultra card in it and I cant seem to run Armada any more and its doing my nut in as it was one of my favourate games.

When I load up the game with the (1.2 patched) menu icons flicker, when I load up a game the splash screen is silver/chome and is fuber'd to the max. When in game all the ships/planets etc. flicker as well... sound is fine but visual its an eye strain!

Is there any remedy for this to get it to work? If so pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let me know as its driving me bonkers! Thanks :)

I know of the problem. You used to be able to fix it by using older versions of the drivers for the graphics card, but on such a new card thats probably not possible. (which is not much help...)

Does anybody else run into this more recently and figured out a workaround/fix?

Urm, on my 8500gt i can select the graphics settings a game uses to make them independant from my usual settings. Maybe adding ST:A as an option and turning off all the features would help?

You have to disable something....its not directly to do with the card, because my card is very old and i still get the exact same probelm. Sorry i dont mean to be unhelpful...ill think it over and get back to you

Hello again, thanks for the many replies!

No im running windows XP, I might try play around with the graphics settings and see if something i disable works!

If in the meantime anyone finds a solution please let me know!

And the pictures up above are pretty much whats going on, except it doesnt look that weird in game, it jsut normal bar the flickering!

Thanks all for your help
