I just installed tactical assault and the federation addon for my Armada 2 game, but whenever I try to run it the game crashes. Can this be fixed?

Isn't working how? You have to give us more information to go on than that. What does the game do? Will it start up? Does it crash when you start a game? What?
I heard the installer made 1200 or so entries in the registry files. Where are they located and how can I delete those entries because my comp moves a lot slower now.
I didn't make it!
Grodie, if the game is crashing at start up, there is either a techtree, odf, or sprite error somewhere. Yacuzza specifically stated in the ReadMe that Tactical Assault should be installed on a stock game with Patch 1.1 applied. If you have anything at all besides these installed, what you have described will happen.
It is possible to install Tactical Assault with other mods but it must be done manually and the files inside the Sprites folder will have to be modded by adding in the parts you want. This is not hard to do at all, just takes a bit longer than clicking on the 'Install' button. All of the Sprites files can be changed using Notepad. If you compare two Sprites files with the same name, such as the one from the mod and the one already inside the game, the parts which must be added are pretty obvious and it is easy to copy/paste from one file to the other.
Firewarrior, the registry is inside your Windows folder and covers the entire operating system. The registry is the folder which tells your computer what files are on the HHD, where they are on the HDD, and which other files must be used to get them to work correctly. It is the very first thing your computer looks at and the very last thing it turns off. One misplaced comma or wrong case for a single letter can make your entire computer completely unusable. These extra entries can be removed. I would suggest a professional registry editing application, such as RegEdit or System Mechanic to do so. I do not recommend trying to remove them manually. This can cause an error which will force you to wipe your entire HDD and reinstall everything (your OS and all other files, not just A2) from scratch
People, it is important to remember whenever you use an autoinstaller included in a mod, this autoinstaller is optimized for and based upon the stock game or the developer's personal install. It is not intended to make adjustments to correctly install in every single personal mod out there. It is also only concerned with installing the mod it is attached to. It does not care at all about that new ship you spent two hours getting to work correctly Tuesday night. The simplest way to prevent these sorts of things from occurring is to install the mod in question to a temporary folder somewhere and then install it manually after checking over the files to ensure there will be no conflicts with what you've already installed.
I know, I know. We'd all like things to be simpler than they are. I'd like Plug and Play mods as well. But until this happens, I will avoid using autoinstallers because of exactly the problems you have both described.

Ok here are the specifics: I installed the patch, then tactical assault, and then the federation addon.
When I start the game itself, the game just crashes.

revo uninstaller did it for me. but that was after 3 time trying to add it ignoring the installer bug, meaning 3 installs. revo uninstaller is freeware. do not uninstall the mod before you use it, let revo do it.
if u like to try another way: install TA in an EMPTY folder. put that folder on a stick. delete TA installation from your hard drive. do same (install/stick/delete/) with FedEx. do a fresh install of a2, patch it, put the TA files into that A2 directory, afterwards same with FedEx. should work now.
i agree with fooT on the installer - but ony when they f**k up your game. on big mods like this I always use a fresh install and test the mod there. an auto installer is usually a safe way then.
