I have replaced the stock fed starbase with Shadow's Spacedock:
I and the station is transparent now. Help!
Transparent... As in, are the textures see-through, or has the whole thing vanished without a trace?
SFC3;4961564I and the station is transparent now.
Oh, cool, you'll have to tell me how to do this. I've always wanted to be transparent. At least for a little while. Long enough to get to the bank and home again, anyway. Or the ladies' locker room at the gym.... :naughty:
As to the station, which model are you using? There are three models in that pack.... You're sure you copied the textures over? Do the textures have lightmaps? They should. Usually a transparent object means the textures have lightmaps when the mesh isn't properly set to handle them.
I had a similar problem with the Scimitar mod I D/L'd recently. I added lightmaps the the textures and placed the ship in game. Only the lightmaps were visible. None of the rest of the ship was. When I removed the Alpha channels from the textures, the ship appeared normally. It had no Alphas and looked poorer for it but it was visible and playable. Remove any masks or layers from the textures and then place these in game. It should solve the problem.
It was the scale! It was too big. So when you saw it in game it was transparent. I scaled the sod down to 1.0 and its fine now.
Well, damn. Just when I think I pretty much know all the tricks the game can pull with a model, I find a new one. Thanks for the info, SFC3. Much appreciated.
