I threw in a downloaded sovereign and when I try to play campaign with it, the game dies. I know, I know, but I wanted to play campaign and I disabled all my other add-on ships, but this one had overwritten my stock ship. I like this one better anyway. The model looks nicer, and the weapons are balanced. But when I play it, the game dies in at certain times in certain missions. Is there any way around this or will I have to bite the bullet and reinstall the game again?

No, you don't have to reinstall. It's common for the SP Campaign to freeze up or crash when you've got mods installed. Use the TestMode cheat, so that when it does crash on you, you can start off where you left off (saves with mods will crash the game too). What ship were you using that crashes the game (out of curiosity)?

I always get this problem with mods like FBCMP or EOL or KUU2...sometimes it crashes, sometimes it turns off the mutators...But since it is overwritten I doubt in can "turn it off"....

Actually, you can turn the overwritten ships off (I think... but maybe I'm going crazy). Just turn off all the mutators except for the ones that are labeled Stock.

I meant for the people who don't use the precompiled mods.

There's actually a long, and tedious way to do that too :p First, you need to back up your stock files (IE, name all of the Sovereign files "Sovereign Backup" or something), then install your new ships. Whenever you want to play the stock game again, just re-name the Backups as your ship (make the "Sovereign Backup" just plain "Sovereign"), and then re-named the modded ship's names to the Backup.

My head hurts now, even though it was a bit obvious. What people want to do is play with the modded ships in Story mode. Or at least I want to.

I always do that, and have never had a problem with it. I used the CG Sov, SNS Galaxy, SNS Akira, C2X Warbird, 9 of 9's Cardassians, etc. etc., and have never had a problem with it (other than my graphics card bleeding to death when having the SNS Galaxy and the CG Sov on screen at the same time :p )

I have a similar problem actually. I really wanna play the SP mission with a better Galaxy class as the stock one is frankly poor. I like things canon tbh but the phaser coverage on the stock galaxy is far from that. The problem is if i change any thing at all to do with the stock galaxy at all, when i start the game it either wont start or when i try to start any game at all the viewscreen just goes like tunnel vision and the game totally screws up and wont even start the next time you try to run it. I would iodeally like to replace all the ships in the campaign. All my other mods ships etc work fine. I can even replace the stock ships just not the galaxy!! Help!!
