I recently have had an idea to make a comet Mod. I have figured out a way (in Python) to make a huge comet and if you destroy it you will get debri from it. You will also be able to import it into any system you want. Having this idea as well I have also thought of general asteroids exploding into debri.

Its a gud idea but it sounds like a bit of a novelty with no real use unless it seperates into big pieces of debris making and asteroid field!
It would be pretty cool if one would want to make themselves up a "disaster" scenario... Where you would have to destory the comet/asteroid before it wipes out a planet or something.
Nah none of that...It should be used for detecting cloaked ships just like Geordi and Kirk used...
May be the result is it creates a small nebula (very small) field or maybe it should be the oort cloud in every solar system

Yeah it was a cool map,it was actually just a string of nebulas that gave the impression of a comet tail.There wasnt any rock in it as far as i remember,Ill have to have a fight there soon.
Having a comet sounds alright, but perhaps (as suggested above) it requires a better purpose. I decided to try and think up some potential uses for destroying a comet:
1/Causes a large explosion (similar to warp core explosion) which would destroy any vessel that has low shields or low hull. If you have lots of small ships kicking your ass, then perhaps destroying a comet would prove to be effective.
2/Creates a large asteroid field which could be used to hide within. The asteroids should be quite small, so that a small starship or shuttle can maneuver in to allow repairs to commense. It would be good to hide from Borg vessels in such a way, providing there weapons cant penetrate asteroids?!
3/Creates a small nebula, with various effects. Id prefer a nebula which drains shields. You could lure in enemy vessels with weaker shields, then kick there :moon: (= ass Incase he hasn't whipped em down yet!?)
4/Creates an anti-cloaking field (as mentioned above) However im not sure if this can be done. It would be VERY cool if it could, then those sneaky roms could be found easily, giving a single opportunity to take em out!
5/Im not sure if this could be done, but it would be good if a comet explosion disabled all impulse engines on vessels within a close radias for a short period of time. Im sure we can all think of how tactically effective this would be.
I thought there would be more ideas, but given my knowledge of BC im not sure what could be done? (Im not scripter). But in my opinion it needs to have some tactical use, i think it would be a waste of time if all it did was explode without any advantage or reason to destroy it in the first place. It would be really cool if the explosion caused MICRO asteroids to shoot out at a fast velocity, then they could collide with ships and inflict damage. However i think a new asteroid model would be required. Out of all the ideas above I think this would be so cool. You would have to go to full impluse to avoid a wave of asteroids.
Good luck with your project anyway. Sounds interesting, just needs a defined purpose. If it is easy to create individual comets that cause one of the effects, then you could have several of them to chose from?
The nebula one SOUNDS good but I dnt think it would play well,it just wouldnt seem realistic for a nebula to appear out of an asteroid explosion.I think the asteroid field would be best as it would be fun to maneuver around and would be believable.
imagin... a fast paced fight in small ships sneaking and darting between astroids aiming for a clear shot...
