I've moved onto moding the game and I want eye canny. So I am going about make new bridge crew Saffa is now seven (downloaded) and I’ve made brex and Andorian and Brex at tactical and Kiska wears red. But there is a small problem the only way I can make kiska wear red is to rename the red uniform to the name of the golden uniform but this causes the problem that the officer that do walk abouts have mixed red and golden uniform do you know how to put kiska in red at helm, and have the other officers with the right color uniform?

I would like to ask one more thing, I kind of want a Cardassians science officer but the only way I can do it is to change the .nif files for the model of miguel but to do that, I can't just change the head because the neck over hangs so I have to change the body as well but if I do that then the bodies for all other officer on my bridge don’t look correct I though about editting .py files but it doesn't seem to be working can some one help me please.

Each bridge officer has their own .pyc file telling them which body/head .nif to use and what textures and AI to use, just like ships. If you look at some of the bridge mods you've downloaded, you should find the .py's (hopefully) in the scripts/bridge/characters/ folder. Once you've read a few of them and had a look round at the various related .nif and .tga files, should be as easy to work out how to alter them as it is to do so for ships.

...and to set each character about the bridge, there are master pyc files that act like map files do for ships too.

I have this problem, I wanted Jadzia at helm, rather than XO as in the mod, and she had the red collar so I swapped the bodies about with a simple name change. Not too bad since only the 'extras' are affected. I also wanted an Andorian Captain Verata at Science (I was suiting everything to my fanfic), so I edited the file to get rid of his extra pips and changed the collar color to teal. That worked pretty well, but since the head was used for a few characters, some of them have these massive columns of hair sticking out of there forehead. Graff looks really funny. :D

ok i've got over it over and over and it just makes the game crash, i need abit more help.

What Uniform Mod are you using? Sounds like your using the First Contact version. If that's the case you will have to change the Head.TGA files. Using either Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. This in it self is a "delicate" Process.

* Note: You will need a Graphics Program able to edit Targas (.TGA) to make the following changes.

* From One Character Head.TGA "Kiska" for example, make your color alteration to the neck. From that Template, use clone brush to alter the other 6 .TGA files that belongs to the Character. Taking care to change the neck color only to fit from the Template.

* Bridge Character Script.py changes only work if the Characters have uniform colored "Collars". Like a ENT, TOS, TMP, TNG, DS9/ VOY Uniforms because they are basically the same color. This is why your textures aren't looking right, Because, Your trying to alter a First Contact Uniform- Without altering the Character head files.

* As for the Cardassian Character. The Head file will not look right, because the Cardassian mesh handels the textures diffrently than what you would expect. You would come out better just using a Human Head.NIF and Adding Cardassian Features to it, to achive your Starfleet look. I should know- I've made a Denobulan from using Cardi tetures and a human head mesh. In my "Star Trek: Enterprise TC".

With out sounding like a suck up i love the 3rd era bridge plugins and your all doing a great job. Now back to topic. What i simple what to do is get a Cardassian science officer i know u have to edit migel.py so that it takes a different .NIF mainly the Cardassian one, so the face looks correct, also i would have to changed the body nif but if some one can tell me how to changed the migel.py so it works i would be very thankfull. I've try this 3 times, first time the game crashed 2nd time there was no one there and the 3rd time he was there but with not head, but the cardassian right body.

The only trouble is Miguel shares his feautres with a few of the crew. I know this because I wanted to change him to match the Andorian in my fanfic, and after copying all the Verata files (BCs Andorain) into Miguel, I discovered I had given Graff two rather large protrusions of hair out of his head. :D I can't really find a way around this, so I steer clear of Starbase 12 now.

Nope- That will not work, Because the texture are Mapped differently on the Cardassian Texture. You will have to use "Clone Brush" to edit the features to any Human Male's Head. It's not a paste job. You will have to use clone brush and draw the features to match the Human head texture. Use that as a Template to edit the other 6 .TGA's. For that particular character.
