Hello, I used to play BC all the time when I was little and now am feeling rejuvenile and have an odd craving to pretend to be Dr. Crusher and re-enact the battle between an Olympic Class Starship and a Klingon warship. ummm yeaaaa lol Anyways so I installed the game. Did the patch 1.1. I then installed BCMI. I dunno which version but it seems to be distinct from other version by being bcmi.NET instead of plain ol' bcmi. also when i googled bcmi and went to bc.filefront it had a link saying that this wasn't the most recent version and so I clicked the link and it came up with BCMI.NET instead so i used what filefront says is latest version. I then installed BCMP 4.4 beta i believe its called. When i ran both BCMI and BCMP they both said i need to install foundations. error. Fine, so I had an option to install foundations and i tried that and BCMI says successful but it was giving an error all night long but just as I'm writing this it won't give me an error msg or any mention that foundations aren't installed. BCMP says successful but when I click any button in BCMP it asks me to install foundations again. I went on filefront looking for foundations or what i believe is commonly called Ftech. i downloaded Foundation Technologies 20050703. And copied it into the root directory well being sure to preserve the directory structure. I copied in scripts folder basically. It didn't help the BCMI or BCMP. Or maybe it is why i'm not getting a foundations not installed msg in BCMI now i unno for sure. Anyways BCMI lets me do an installation. great. i boot up Bridge commander and the ship isn't there. I did all microsoft's automatic updates so i have the .NET framework i'm pretty sure cause one of those updates is the .NET framework right? right. So I'm at a loss. Can you help me?
Use BCUT instead of BCMP to install foundation. Depending on the ship you might also have to create a ship plugin. BCUT can help you with that as well.
ok well i installed BCUT and the foundation thingy inside it. and NANOfx stuff. I've also ensured I have a test mode shortcut that I'm using to try things with. But still nothing. I unno what I'm missing. I used to do this all the time when I was teenager. now nothing. I read through the NOOB 101 that comes in BCUT and followed those directions exactingly. but maybe I'm missing something. I'm a little unsure of what tool i should be using in BCUT. and im not completely sure if I need to do something else after I install a ship. like do i need to make a menu option for it? can you walk me through the menus in BCUT maybe? with a sample ship of your choosing?
When you download a ship open the archive and check if there is a script\custom\ships folder. If the folder is there just extract the entire archive to your BC directory and no further action is required.
If it's missing you have to create the plugin yourself. That applies to most mods from the early days of BC.
1. Extract the data, script and sfx folders to the BC directory. Overwrite when prompted. 2. Open BCUT and make sure that your BC directory is selected in options. 3. Switch to Basic BCSMC. 4. Search for "Catalunya" in the Ship Filename dropdown box and select it. BCUT will now fill in the other boxes automatically. I suggest you leave everything as it is except Menu Group where you replace "Other Ships" with "Fed Ships" so that the ship will show up in the appropriate menu. If you want you can also enter your own ship description but it's not necessary. Finally save the plugin file by clicking on "Generate Plugin"
If everything went right the new ship will now be available in Quickbattle.
I followed your instructions and extracted to the root BC folder and the name catalyuna was available from the drop down menu in BCMSC i selected it and put it with fed ships. i generated plugin and nothing. I made sure i went into test mode BC too. :( any other things i might be overlooking? I didnt get any error msgs and game works fine.
Check if all the mutators are enabled.
thank you! thank you! it works now i totally forgot about the mutators buttons its been so long
