The easiest thing is to duplicate an existing hardpoint in the list, and change it to what you want, rather than creating one from scratch.

or use the search function... or seek out tutorials... there are other sites, like BCU, that cover this issue also...

I'm not fully-versed in the MPE but I know enough about scripting to make hardpoints from scratch; I use the MPE for making phaser ellipses. Basically the easiest thing to do is to take an existing hardpoint and make a copy of it and then use it for your ship - assigning ellipses to phaser strips is no easy task; often times it's best to find the ellipses in a modelling program by stretching a cylindrical shell over the strip that you've just modelled, and then find the coordinates of the center of the cylindrical shell along with the lengths of its major and minor half-axes. Then you find the conversion factor from the modelling program's coordinates to Bridge Commander's coordinates and just use this for assigning ellipses in the MPE. -CR

It's a pain though :). You feel good when it's done though, only thing is, most of the time after I FINALLY have the ship done, I'm too sick of it to use it. :p

Ships can be a huge pain in the butt, huh? Yeah. Half the time, for me, I'll fiddle and tweak and mess with MPE to add a freakin phaser and I'm too mentally exhausted to even TRY it.
