Hello, i'm a beginner in BC modding and i've a problem with the textures of my ships. In particular, my textures are too dark. See this as an example: Heavy Frigate, Bridge Commander Downloads, Bridge Commander Other Sci-fi Genres
How i can make brilliant textures ?
I use photoshop. For example, i make a 256x256 tga files with a pattern and a white alpha layer. When i add the tga texture in milkshape, i set the colors (Ambient, Diffuse, Specular and Emissive) to white, but in game the ship is always dark !!! Please help me ! p.s. i'm sorry for my bad english !

do you make your specular maps with your texture overlays? ex. in almost all ships i've d/led there have been texture TGA's and also other TGA's labeled "specular" or "spec"
i think this is the lighting file, but someone with more experience could tell you one way or the other.

I'm pretty sure it's a setting in the model itself. Specular files only add more detail to the texture. The lighting is from an alpha channel in the main tga texture which you've already done. I've forgotten how to set the lighting on the model itself though.
Ok, I took a look at your ship. First off, there are way too many textures associated with it. I opened it up in max and there were not even enough slots for them all. It was very dark after doing a test render. I tried to import it to milkshape and it said too many chunks to import. We'll take a look at it further at SBP07, but it may take a while. I'll pm you when we figure it out. Do'nt be discouraged. Things get missed in beta testing occaionally. I recently released a dominion ship that looked and performed fine to me. Only to find out after 200 downloads, that it was flying backwards. I had to pull it from BC Files. I'll never understand dominion design I guess.:)

I work in Cinema4D and then export in 3ds for Milkshape. In Cinema4D i can't add textures because when i import the 3ds file in Milkshape, this return me the "too many chunks" error.
Scott, if you want, i can send you the source of one of my ship. In this way you can test better and help me to solve my problem.
However I'll do some other tests to find the error. Thank you all for your support. :)
