Except, to be honest, I haven't a clue how; I'm still rather new to BC, in fact I just installed Kobayashi yesterday. Now, I don't think it's too ambitious, but I'd like to modify the Raider1 (Maquis raider that Chakotay used) and place the Neutron guns and the shield system from the Liberator (Ship in the Blakes 7 Modpack) on the Raider. Just a straight transplant, if that's possible. (Replacing the phasers with the Neutrons, and "upgrading" the shields) Can anyone help? What do I need to do it, and how do I go about doing it? I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than I think. Thanks for your time.

In the hardpoints folder, there should be files with the extension .py, which can be opened in notepad or any text editor. These contain the properties of the ships. If you can look through that and identify what the phasers are on both ships, then you should be able to copy and paste over. You'll also find numbers in the shield bit that identify strength and recharge rate, which can be upped. But if you up them too much, keep an eye on the powergrid stats as you don't want too much more power going out than your ship can take in.

Alternatively, there is the SDK on bcfiles, which contains the MPE, which some people find a friendlier way of battling with the hardpoints without resorting to hard coding. Its not perfect, as the MPE dedicated forum on here testifies...

But yes, once you get the hang of it, it really is as easy as you think... not too complicated at all.

Ah, thank you very much. :bows: I tried the notepad approach. I changed the values, but instead got a crash when I started BC QB up. Obviously I did something wrong. (I tried a few times, I must've changed something it didn't like) It does kind of remind me of modding the old Armada 1 games .odf files. I may try SDK, I don't want to move any of the hardpoints or anything, just change what they fire.

Download BCSDK and use Model Property Editor When you load the ship NIF, you'll be prompted to load the hardpoint (ship.PY) Look at the right pannel and open the structure tree. Click the "Scene Root" category and you'll get all the properties on the left pannel. There, find the "Phasers" property and modify it to match your purposes. You must also modify each single phaser if you want to change its color or texture. Good luck!!

Ah, victory!

I opened up the files, and changed the values by hand, rather than cut and pasting, and instead of trying to change the systems to Liberator systems, keep them Raiders with Liberator values, though I did change the firing sound to the Liberators.

It worked.

Then I went in, and found what I suspected was the beam color profiles, and changed them to the Liberators. It also worked.

Since I didn't think it would work, I exagerated all the values, so not only do I have a Raider with Liberators cannons and shields, but they're beefed up versions. I think I made it far too powerful. But that was fun. I may drop some of the values back down, I'm still tinkering with the engine power to get that right. (Right now I barely use any of the warp core power.) But it's a fun God ship at the moment. :D I even went and created a new name for the ship.

Thanks for all your help.
