Actually the crashes were just from instant action too desktop after a fight, no bsod. I seem too of found another problem though.
I just uninstalled everything, manually deleted the files it couldn't and reloaded BC. Just BC, not 1.1 and no mods at all. The game will not start like this, it just hangs at a black screen. However as soon as I reinstall 1.1/KM it loads fine and is playable (though I still can't see all the mutators and nanofx isn't working)
It's like theres some back up of the game (with 1.1/km installed) somewhere that I can't find too delete and my compy is trying to run it with those mods, but they arn't their so it just doesn't load anything.. After every reinstall, my aspect ratio settings and graphic settings, even the mutators I *did* have on are all still there. As if it never got uninstalled in the first place. This is really annoying as I can't seem too even try reinstalling too fix the problems because the current files seem too be "saved" somewhere. >..>
I've looked all over my /c and can't find anything else related too bc. Any other vista users out there that could give me a hand? =(
I really hate computers.. >.>
That link I gave you ins't about BSODs, its runtime errors that windows causes in BC, they somethime will cause a BSOD, and your problem really sounds like its windows.
Especially crashing to desktop with out providing a reason, that means the application failed, so the problem, is some kinda of runtime error, possibly triggered by an error in a mod, causing an Error in BC. to check for things you can't find use folder options to display all files. Finally if you go through the ideas on the link they could fix all your problems. also I belive the Ultimate Main Menu Mod, has its own muttor section wich dose scroll, so you could try intaslling that. Otherwise, get someone with the same modas as you to activate them all then exit Bc, then send you their "Scripts\Custom\FoundationConfig.py" file, it tell bc which mutors are active.
if you get a crash right to desktop, it is usually because of a missing projectile when your ship fires something... check to see if the crash happens just about the second you fire a torp or pulse weapon... otherwise, play in windowed mode and recreate the crash... alot of the time, in windowed mode, a CTD will yield a DOS error box that will explain the error...
Its not the crashing I need help with really, its the incomplete mutators menu and now the fact that I seemingly cant fully uninstall BC. every time I reinstall everything, all my settings and mods and everything is exactly as it was before the uninstall. so the uninstall despite removing everything (or seeming too) isn't deleting something. Thus I can't try too fix the problem.
So far everything Ive tried, including installing a separately downloaded UMM (unified main menu) mod ontop of the one KM should of had with it, has done nothing >.<
like I said I'm running vista, if anyone has any ideas as too why its doing this; I'd really appreciate your insight.
so far my post on the KM forums has gotten 31 views and absolutely no responses after being up almost a week...
So, what exactly were you putting on you're install? Just KM?
yes just BC patch 1.1 then KM. nothing else atm. I'm really not sure why it isn't working as these are the same files i used on my old compy with no issues =/
I'm almost certain a clean install would fix it, but for some reason my compy isn't letting me do a clean install. its like its made a back up of the bc directory somewhere. I have show all files and folders on, but no where is there anything on my /c that seems to be related to BC other then the main directory.. I'm pretty much at a loss >.>
on I side note, the KM forums post finally got a response. the only reply was too flame me for bumping it back up after having been ignored for over a week..even though a similar thread above it at least got some help (none of the suggestions in that thread fixed mine though). Honestly I'm really not impressed with that place, the mod is awesome but the forum seems dead.
It could be a corruption in your KM files. Try redownloading it and starting again.
Why do'nt you send a pm to Defiant? He is the administrator there and has always replied to my messeages without delay. He's good people and I'm sure he can help you out.
hmm, yeah I may try doing that, ty for the thought scott.
Ill try re-downloading it as well, I'm just thinking that it may not help until I figure out why exactly it seems like my compy isn't fully deleting the files. (I do manually remove the left overs of course, but it doesn't help) hmm.

lol you werent being flamed, you were simply asked to please not bump a thread asking for input if no one had yet responded, and that sometimes it takes a while to get a response (if at all) so it is all about being patient... bumping a thread doesnt force a response, it only annoys moderators ;) and if there is no response, it is not because you are being "ignored", it generally means that those who are there that could possibly assist are likely away and/or too busy with their own lives that they might not have yet seen the thread... or perhaps those who are around normally, just dont know the answer to your issue...
that's not being flamed, that's being politely reminded about forum etiquette, which generally goes for every forum...
also, in that post, you were given some advice as to where to go to get a faster response...
so, again, that's not being flamed...
