Here's one for the modders, as i cannot mod a ship myself. it's not widely know in the trek world but the connie WAS infact capable of doing a saucer seperation, albeit the engineering section wouldn't have anything but the thrusters, allowing for escape in grave emergencies, this is references in the episode "the apple" i just read a wiki about it so i know my info is good, i also know there were planning it for the motion picture but it was too much for the time to so, too many wires and such. So how bout a speculation ship, where if it HAD happened, a seperable connie. Would be interesting

Constitution class starship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia there is a link that links to the episode, the apple, and i quote text

This episode establishes that the Enterprise saucer and engineering sections can separate should the need arise. With the ship in danger, Kirk orders Scotty to "discard the warp drive nacelles if you have to and crack out of there with the main section, but get that ship out of there!"

isnt there already a Ship Request Thread?? also, this request has been made several times over the years, but no one has decided to do it, or no one is interested... if youd like to have the ship, youre better off learning how to make ships for BC and put it together on your own... use the search function here, as well as at BCU and BCC about how to create ships for BC...

The Constittution Class had the ability to either eject the nacelles or the engineering section depending on the nature of the problem. The refit made this extra option(nacelle ejection) obsolete due to the new blast radius of the new engine design's power output.

There's a similar order to discard nacelles in "The Savage Curtain". Both emphasize nacelle separation and say nothing about saucer separation.

Wikipedia isn't the best place for information.

The connie was certainly capable of separation, the problem came with reintegration, which required a starbase's assistance.

The original idea of the design was a stardrive section that took the ship through space and a saucer section that then landed. Budgetary restrictions meant the creation of the transporter beams and shuttles for those occasions when the money was there for a model shot.
