OK, I thought I would try and change boring ole Miguel into an Andorian, so I had a look at the character model heads in the correct folder, and went about copying Verata's head over into Miguels folder, changing the names to Miguel. It seems I changed the universal head file, which edits some of the other characters in that folder (thankfully, Miguel was the only one of the bridge crew affected, although I'm sure some of those ensigns who turn up from time to time will be changed). So now, characters like Soams, and Commander Graff have two rather large pointy tufts of hair sticking up as though they are the devils themselves. I can accept this, since I have two BC games installed, one for SP and the other for QB, and QB was what I installed it to. But the main problem I have is that now the Miguel/Verata hybrid has a vest underneath his uniform which is blue, and a collar which is red with captain insignia. How do I edit this without any modding tools? What would I need to download to edit this (its all free isn't it?) Also, what rank was Miguel to start off with, and how many pips should I leave him with?
Also, I did the same thing with Kiska, changing her to appear as Dax from a mod which was meant to change Saffi. The collar is red (with the commanders pips), but the body is still gold. How would I go about making her under uniform the red color which is more canon? In the bodies folder, there doesn't seem to be a set Kiska body which I can change. All I could do is to copy the red color file and change the name to the gold color file, overwriting it, but that would change all the gold uniforms, something I don't want to do. Any suggestions?

As well as actually modding the crew heads and bodies, looking at the scripts that assign heads and bodies to individuals is also important. It sounds like you have scripts trying to fit universal parts over parts you have made for Miguel. I'm sure there's a crewman modding tutorial somewhere on here or on bcfiles, I've seen it... I think... not that my memory should be taken as a certain thing...
Yeah, I tried putting the Miguel files into the Andorian folder, to see if then only Miguel would be effected, but the game crashed on me when I tried it out.
OK, I found that Paintshop Pro supports TGA files, so I can edit the collars. I've just done that without the game crashing. I just need some slight tweaks to make it look better, but now Miguel the Andorian has a matching collar.
