I have heard that to stop white squares appearing around some mod ships I need to install NanoFX, but when I do all I get is the back screen with a yellow starfleet symbol. 1. How do I install NanoFX without the black screen coming up? 2. Do I have to install NanoFX to stop the white squares or is there another way?

2. To get rid of the squares, you have to either install nanofx (which includes a new ship function called blinking lights that replaces the squares with, well, lights that blink) or you can open ship hardpoints, find the lights and delete them. Some ships early in the nanofx era came with alternate hardpoints without flashing lights.

1. So long as you follow the instructions in the nanofx readme (including all essential mods and essential not to be present mods) then it should go in fine. Alternatively, KM 1.0 has nanofx already installed.
