I need some help in adding graphics to a ship's hull. I'm trying to add the Terran emblem and whenever I do, the hull turns white. In some cases the hull turns black or no emblem appears at all. Any advice? (I did have screen shots of the problem, but they were mysteriously deleted. If you need a picture, I can always try to get it again)

I am opening the TGL files in Microsoft Picture It Express and overlaying the TE image on top of it (placing it in the desired areas)

The .tga's (.tgls are something different) will need their alpha channels checked as well as just the visible graphics added. If something goes wrong with them, then the textures will just turn into a beutiful white glow. Not helpful.

The alpha channels control how the textures are lit. Where they are white, the texture is at full brightness, where they are black, the texture is dark. Maybe pasting the new bits in brought another conflicting channel into play. This happened to me once. Very annoying.

If you have Photoshop or Paint Shop or another such application, you can try copying the non-alpha channel and saving it as a new file in PNG-24 format. After that add everything you want. When you are done, copy the new texture and paste it into the original texture's file as the channel you edited in the first place.
