Hi guys, been havin a few problems modifying a ship for BC, which I'm hopin to release should I get the authors permission. The problem I'm having is weapons related. I've tried to create some "side mounted" Pulse Phasers in MPE everything looks fine, I've added a script for the phasers and they all point in the right direction, there's a subsystem for them and the computer can destroy them, but they just won't fire, any tips would be appreciated. Make sure that under the weapon subsystem for the pulse phasers you set the type to pulse. I hope this helps I've forgot to do this before.:D

One time I tried adding a phaser array to a transport. I included everything. The textures, fire sound, angles, you name it. However, I didn't know what to put in for the weapons icon.

When I played the ship in game, the new phaser array wouldn't fire and the firing arcs didn't show up on the ship icon.

My theory is that you may have to use the TDE(tactical display editor) to add weapons icons for the ship. Once you add the weapons icons with TDE, BC will register the ship as actually having those weapons hardpoints.

It's only a theory because I have never tested it or actually used TDE.

You may also try asking the guys over at the Kobayashi Maru forum and find out who did the hardpoints for the freighter and transports. They added working phaser arrays to those ships.

That could be it actually... Same thing happened to me when I was modifying the Andromeda, never thought of TDE though, good advice. :)

OK I've used TDE and positioned all the icons but still nothing the icons haven't showed up in QB either, I've recompiled the files into BC, when I opened TDE it came up with the weaponry from the Borg galX?? do I need to do anything with the PY files. I'm not gettin any error messages at all so left really confused so far.

Also just to add, I added a large cannon to the front of the ship earlier this year, no probs at all, didn't use TDE just MPE the whole thing worked fine, oh and the Power consumption went through the roof too, so I'm guessin the game has registered all the components just won't let me use them

Wait, wait, lol, can't believe I forgot this... did you delete all the .pyc files of the ships you've modified? .PYC files are files that are generated by BC for each ship. Deleting them doesn't do any harm, but, if you make an update to a .py file, the game is still using the .pyc from the old .py, so you need to delete that .pyc so it can generate a new one from the modified .py. Help any?

ok so I've deleted the PYC files linked to the ship. Nothing has changed on it and now my screen flickers while I'm playin. The ship is a churchill variant if that helps.
