yeah, i am a noob at modding BC, but ive modded other things before. anyway, i have download the MK mod, and its very good btw, but i wanted to edit a ship (the nebula) to have its warp core and bridge as non-critical systems so that it can only be destroyed by hull damage. i will not take credit or anything weird for that, i am only modding a mod for personal use and fun. i can see this being done easily with the bc SDK, but the files included in it are only for stock BC, the KM nebula class is differient. is their any program that will convert the nebula.pyc file to nebula .py, and back again? thanks.

.pyc's are generated by the game when you load it up, so no i don't think there is a way to switch it to a .py

pyc's aren't in control of a hardpoint, if i remember correctly they display all the data on how the ship runs ingame.

Ya. The .py versions of the .pyc files in KM are found in the src folder. And no, the .pyc can't be converted back to .py.

Any hardpoint in BC can be opened with the MPE included in the BC SDK. Be it py or pyc. I've answered this before. Just start typing the name in the window and auto-complete will give you a list. After editing you can save as py.

If you really need to decompile one, run a google search for a python decompiler, I know they exist as I found a ok one once, but I don't rember where I found it and I don't have it any more, so if you want one you'll need to find it.

Defiant used to have a pyc decompiler, but i think he no longer has it... i have tried personally searching for one thru google, but i have been unsuccessful... hopefully, tho, someone will have better luck than me, as i would like to have one as well... granted, the py's for ships, hps, and projectiles are all provided in the src folder for KM; but there are some ships out there on bcfiles whose weapons were only provided in pycs, and it would be nice to be able to modify those weapons for my own personal install...

With weapons you can manually decompile them, open the file with a text editer, of tyhe one you want and one you know the values of, you should be able to work out whats what. For the most part anyway. oh and also I've found out that google is working on a python decompiler currently.
