I've just watched ST: Generations and i wondered if you could make a mod that would give every weapon and shields a configurable frequency that could range from 100 to 10000 Mhz (rough guess). If weapons and shield would operate on the same frequency, it would pass right through eachother (like in the movie). Example: Let's say a BOP is facing against a Galaxy class starship, BOP's weapons operating on 495.23 and Galaxy on 349.07. In a battle, it will be no different from a game without the mod, however, if the BOP was to reconfigure the weaponry to let's say 349.01 or 349.14, that would be just enough to pass through the shields. Get the picture?
In the movie the klingons had to modulate their shields to exactly the same frequency of the Enterprise
RPGMaster2000 is right. The Klingons matched their torpedo frequency to the Enterprise shield freq so it would pass right through. By the way, I think this would be a great mod! You don't want it to be too easy to find out what frequency the enemies shields are at though. Maybe an intensive scan might get a reading on it one out of ten times. To be fair, maybe the shield freq could only be changed before the match starts and then stays the same til the match is over. But you could change your torpedo freq as often as you like. Then you have to decide, do I spend my time fighting or figuring out shield freqs? Just a few ideas, I don't even know if its possible. Good one RPGMaster2000.
Thanks for the positive feedback. :) This kind of mod would add alot more depth to gameplay (especially online!) Imagine this: you're allied with a Galaxy class starship online, facing a K'tinga or something. The K'tinga is outnumbered obviously, but what the Galaxy doesn't know is that you are actually a spy sent by the other team with orders to find out about the Galaxy's shield frequency, making the battle a victory for the K'tinga. Man, i'd love to be the klingons there. :D
This would be a really great mod. Hope someone can make this.

The mod could include a weapon in Borg ships to scan the shield frequencey and adapt. That would make Borg ships more realisitic.

maybe reducing frequency amount to...let's say 100 frequencies?, 1 - 100, not totally star trek but still cool :D
If we should have 1-100, then we should at least put a decimal in it. (See my first post about what is neccesary to penetrate the shields.)
How come this died? Shouldn't this be pretty easy for a skilled modder to pull off? :-/
