Ok i have a question that has been bugging me all day. IF the Spacedock in Trek 3 has like 2000 something decks. How the heck do they get from deck one to the bottom in a timely manner? Do they use the transporter? If so wouldnt that be a lot of transporter use?

Well, you see, the lower decks are filled with Industrial replicator factiories... So a typical starfleet officer won't even need to get there.. But for a factory worker, he will probablyb use the hyperspeed turbollift or something...:)

More than likely people on a starbase of that size and configuration live and work in pretty much the same areas of the station. But, should one need to, transporters are probably located at tons of spots in the station to allow ease of mobility.

 hehe, good one!

But seriously, they sure use the transporter for long distance transport... they did it on DS9, even directly to OPS, and DS9's not even half as big as a Federation starbase.
