If you scroll down, you'll notice a few things such as 'phaser question', 'inertial dampeners' and subjects like that strewn accross the topic. I had a brainwave: why not make a thread where everyone could ask technical questions in one place? That way it'd save the creation of new threads, and create a central place of answers to save people looking throughout the topic for similar questions to theirs.

So if you've got a technical question, such as "WTF is a type 12 collimated phaser array?!", "WTF is the difference between distrupters and phasers?!?!", "WTF do dilithium crystals do?!?!", "WTF is an ESM?!", or any other "WTF" question or suchlike, you can stick em all in here. Hopefully someone knowledgable on these things will pop in once in a while, see the question and give an answer. I'll keep 'bumping' the thread up if it drops out of sight, otherwise its purpose of being readily accessible will be lost. I won't spam, of course (Me? Never!), just transfer some of ye olde questions into here, with the various answers, to build it up a bit.

I said that as a joke, lol. In the encyclopedia they said that they don't know what they are.

Well, the encyclopedia I have gives that (exact :P) same description. I think I have the 1999 edition; that's the latest I could find at Amazon a few months ago. The older, 1994 edition of the ST encyclopedia, the only other copy I have, says they don't know. Maybe you're out of date, Kahless? Hey, Breslin, if we didn't use reference material it would suggest we just make it all up. Even copying from the book isn't as bad as that.
