Hey guys!

Well I want to make a mod^^ but my problem is that I really have no clue for what parts of an mod I have to be carefull of. As you can see it´s my first try to make a modification by myself but I don´t know how to start with.

Some time ago I started to try out a bit scripting the .py files. Just little things like changing Torpedostats and so on. A real problem is milkshape because I dont get it... I´m to stupid to figure out how to use it... As well I don´t have any programms to make textures which isn´t really helpfull in this case.

The mod I want to work on is about Perry Rhodan. Maybe some of you already heard about it. In the Perry Rhodan Universe the main armement arent torpedos or Plasmaguns or whatever but Transformcanons. These are devices that can transmit a really huge bomb in zerotime out of the gun into the target where the bomb finally explodes. I tried to make a Transformweapon for some weeks now but I cant imagine in which way I could do this. I tried to make Photons and Quantums as fast as possible but that messed up the Battlefield. This method grants the huge explosion that is necessary for a bomb of a high calibre but the target flies backwards in circles with highspeed or simply disappears...

Now I´m not really sure why I´m writing this but maybe someone has some tips for a bloody confused noob^^

Sorry for my bad English and if something seems like a mystery^^

Hey, good to see you're interested in creating mods for BC. For some good, free texturing programs, I'd recommend GIMP, or Paint.Net. Also, if you're looking for some tutorials in ship building, hop over to BCC, they've just started putting together a tutorials section. Best of luck to you.

Thank you! I downloaded the programs I need but I still dont know where to begin... So acording to this I have a few questions on which I havn´t found answers yet.

At first in which order do I have to make the parts for a new shipmodel? e.g. Hardpoints, textures etc.

How can I change Beamweapons like Phasers?

How can I change Impactexplosions?

When a "highspeed" torpedo hits a target it gets a spin... How can I negate this spin?

Thats all for now but I´m sure there will be more on what I´m unsure about^^

I created a ship building crew for up and comming modders like yourself to hone their skills. I also started posting tutorials here as well. BCC is another good source for help with this subject. I look forward to seeing your work on BC Files soon.

there is actually already a mod that can do that for BC, it is called Transport Torpedoes and it is part of the BCS: The Beginning Mod

I know this feature but that isn´t what I search. The thing is that it´s totally different from the effects I need though. As well as it just works when the target´s shields are down.

I think I´ve found a solution but the explosions are still way to small. Ideas anyone?
