Hey Kids, check this out-- I did a speech last year in speech class about the possibility of warp travel. Check out these three sites, my research sources. It's amazing! Tell me what you think, if you want.

I am somewhat confused. I have read those links may times and i have tried to think of a better way to think of warp speed for those who cannot understand Miguel Aleubierre's theory. I think I have found one. If this is not a right smilie, please tell me so:

Have you ever put a pencil on a desk or table while at school or at home? Did you notice that after putting enough pressure on that pencil that it seemed to "fly" away from you and your desk? The pencil symbolizes space, the universe, or whatever you call it. Your finger and the pressure that is exerted on the pencil is your "warp bubble." Because of the prerssures forced on the pencil (space) it moves away from your finger (warp bubble) while your finger stays put.

What Miguel suggests is that when you create a bubble with its own gravity and forces and put it between 2 waves of space/time that is being exapnded behind the bubble and contracted in front of it space itself should move out of the way because of the negitive pressures that are being exerted on it. Thus bending space/time and allowing your starship to move FTL speeds. Am I right or do you hav eanother way to help me understand this theory?

your second paragraph analysis sounds right. i wont claim to be any rocket scientist, but this stuff does facinate me. as far as the pencil analogy, im not sure, i think that just comlpicates it. in any case, it sounds awesome that we may one day travel at warp speeds!

yeah i am not that bright when it vomes to warp theory so I thought that that idea is a good one.

Yeah, but even if we travel at warp speed, it will never live up to Star Trek expectations.

Lol, so when we shoot off at warp speed what's gonna stop the crew being mashed against the bulkheads by the inertial forces? Or can we also invent inertial dampeners too?

if you really did read the links you would have known that the ship itself woudl not move it is the space around it that moves.
