i solve the black screen of death by uninstalling and deleting bridge commander and its partnered folders. i recently contracted the fatal "eDisease" by downloading a "borgified" ship, and deleted the folder. stupidly, i deleted the folder BEFORE i uninstalled the game, thus deleting the Uninstall.isu file or summet. now i cnt uninstall to reinstall and when i activate the auto reinstall button on the autostart the install sheild starts up but nothing happens ^o) do appreciate any help that can be given :) tyyyy
also as im quite a heavy stargate and star trek fan i would like to find a cure before the new ultimate stargate pack comes out lol tyyy
Try uninstalling with Revo. It's intended exactly for this kind of situations when you can't uninstall something normally. And since the forum keeps throwing error at my face when I try to attach it to this post, here's a link to another post where I previously uploaded it:
If Revo fails, you'll have to manually remove BC Registry entry and delete all BC files and folders to allow the game to install again.

i tried that just then mate and its not working, i attempt to unzip the .exe and winrar failed to unzip for sum reason :O ty for the help tho:beer:
Go to Start → Run, type RegEdit and click OK. Now, look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, subcategory SOFTWARE → Activision → Star Trek: Bridge Commander. Delete everything related to Bridge Commander, but be very careful not to delete something else by accident. I'm looking at my own Registry right now and I think that's the only BC related entry. When you get rid of it, delete all BC files and folders that would normally be uninstalled. Just toss them to the Recycle Bin. Reboot computer and try installing the game again.
when they say everything, they mean literally EVERYTHING. as said above, you have to dump the registry entry, too.
a little tip, in case of a repeat of the BSOD. save every zip or rar of the mods you install. install only one ship at a time, and if you BSOD, controll-alt-delete out of STBC, and purge the ship. (BCUT has a ship uninstaller utility)
note: some browser's DL utility will contribute to crashes via hesitation. i've had to switch to a more obscure browser to get proper downloads
No no no... no need to uninstall the ship to get out of a BSOD.... just need to pull down the console and get an error report... once that is done... just post it here...
99.9% of BSOD's are fixable.
Neb: i've got a plugin for error reports, so I use that. when I read them, though...
also, it's hard to get them for me. i don't get a BSOD, i get a BLUE SOD and it closes bridge commander without saying anything.
well then I don't think that's BC's fault....
and if you don't understand the error reports post them on here or BCC... People like Mleo will gladly help.
right, yeah.. now the tables are turning a bit. its not bc, i jus found out. i just tried installing ARMADA II which uses the same install sheild. and that did the same. so now, im really confuzed ^o) gawd i wonder how i did that.. lol:uhoh: i bet you guys couldnt do that :bows: but seriously, this is a problem :bawl: xD ty for any help
Did you have Armada II installed before? Check the Registry for any Armada II related entries. Same procedure as before.
