I obviously understand how to get readout on the BSOD but now how do I fix it? Secondly, I can't for the life of me isntall any of the ships correctly (not that I would know seeing as how this is the only screen I get) When I follow the instructions they always say to drop the files into the BC main directory, however since the files are in a folder labeled DATA usually, my computer asks me to overwrite the original folder, which I beleive would erase everything in it besides what i'm adding.
Ha Ha! I traced back the files and deleted them, now however I still need info on how to add ships.

well...if you have very old ships..i suggest you use Bridge Commander Ship Menu Creator, Bridge Commander Downloads, Bridge Commander Mod Installers
for anything else: the foundation plugin
the foundation plugin should be installed when you run BCMP...
NOTE: the BCMP is also capable of installing very old ships, but using it is asking for problems ;)
Right, I downloaded BCMI and BCMP, and Foundation did install, but according to the error it was the foundation file that caused the problem in the first place. I'm just trying to get the Constitution in there, however the install says to use Dasher42's or some such and all the links provided for it are dead, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

You install new ships by copying and pasting the folders into your BC directory, when asked to overwrite click yes. Files will be added to the folders, won't erase anything. Btw, Foundation is required for every mod. Did you install it before trying to install a ship?

Did you install the patch first? This must be installed, then the foundation, then whatever ship. BCMP can then be used to create a plugin for the ship, or the ship menu creator (which is the Dasher42 bit, unfortunately, as mods become outdated, it become impossible to update all the readmes to say the mods are outdated).
