Hello. I'm almost at the point of uninstalling STBC in despair.

The problem lies in Episode 3, where the USS Sovereign is in the dust cloud scanning debris. In a walkthrough on STBC it says that the object I'm looking for is at Nav point 2. I'm targeting the individual objects and trying to scan them. Often the science officer will tell me I'm not close enough and that the scanners are affected by the radiation and that I'm not withing 20km. I have tried using the tractor beam to pull the object really close - 4 or 5 km - but I still get the same information from the Science Officer. So the burning question is how to scan all five objects and carry on the game?

I'd really appreciate your help or I'm going back to Starbase 12 permanently.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hi Phil,

The solution, you have to be methodical in your Nav point search of the dust cloud. Boost the Sovereign's sensors too maximum, before you enter the dust cloud, DO NOT use the tractors on the core fragments.

The trick, is too activate the scan for each fragment, when the Sovereign comes within 20 km, of each individual core fragment; that means monitoring your Nav point approach speed. The bug here, if you head for the Nav point at maximum impulse, you will overshoot the nav point, then the sensors will not be able to scan the fragment, no matter how close you are to it.

I suggest you use maximum impulse too get within 30 km, then use 1/4 impulse or (keyboard setting 1 or 2) to approach the nav points.

Hope that helps, BR32
