I've noticed as I'm sure all of you have that bc doesn't deal well with damage when set on high. eg CGSov will almost disapear sometimes when it has taken a minimal amout of hull damage. Ive noticed that the more detailed the model the worse this gets. any way to fix or decrease this prob??
are you talking about when you fire on eg the sov and not only the part you just fired on will take hull damage, but big square chunks of the ship just blast off aswell? i have this problem too, but only on the Sov which comes with KM 0.9 i think there might be another ship with this problem too but i cannot remember which one.
Deleting the Vox.nif file normaly fixes this problem for me. Go to your Data folder (Bridge Commander root folder), then model folder, then ships, then what ever folder the problem ship is in. Go into the folder and delete the *insert ship's name*_vox.nif file and your problem should be gone. Don't worry the game makes the file again when you start BC next time minus the damage glitch.
:agreed
what I do is every few weeks I do a search of the models folder for "_vox.nif" and delete all of them make sure you leave the Voxilizer debug files though
I deleted the vox_nifs but I still have the problem. What is a vox nif anyway? Is it the equivalent of a pyc to a py?
do a search for your entire bc folder for anything "vox" and delete them... its ok, it is safe, the game will generate new "vox"s upon loading the next time...
Yes, the vox is effectively the pyc of the nif world. It is the internal model holding all the damage data from what I gather. Doesn't always autogenerate correctly, so occasionally needs to be redone. The vox files on my custom mods are horrific, and the more detailed the model, the more that has to be generated, and therefore the more that can go wrong...
Yeah that got it! You guys rock.
im glad to hear your problem was resolved! :) im gonna move this thread to the tech support forum; i meant to do so before...
