I see mods which require the Submenu v3 mod, but do I really need this? I've actually installed some ships which say they require submenu, but it doesn't affect the game, I can still get the ships. The reason I don't download it anyway, just in case, is because every time I install submenu v3, a load of the buttons in peoples menu disappear, most notably the quickbattle setup button. With my powers of deduction and several time consuming reinstalls later, I brought it down to this one mod. Why do I need submenu? Is it essential for some other mods?

from what i know, it's not essential, but i may be wrong on this. what it does is organize ships of the same class into a sub-menu, giving you less clutter and cleaning up your QB Menus. two prime examples: the SNS Galaxy's, and MVAM. all of the Galaxy's will go into a Galaxy sub-menu, as will all parts of the Prometheus and MVAM Galaxy. if you're having a problem with it, install the SNS Galaxy pack. it comes with an installer, and the sub-menu mod. BE CAUTIONED: if you install the SNS Galaxy, you'll need to get the update for the hardpoint, so your ships will work. the sub-menus will work fine without the HP update though

The Dom Wars packs don't need it, but if you install all the packs then you'll have a tonne of ships of all different classes in one long list. I used submenu to tidy all this up and have additional menu's for factions and smaller ships and shuttles, freighters etc.

I used the SubMenuV2 and V3 mods to help clean up my Federation list. That way, I could adjust the TGL's to read "USS " and the history on the class of the ship. So my menu goes something like

Federation Ships > Defiant Class> . It certainly cleans it up nicely. IF you're having probs, then you probably don't have SNS Galaxy installed, although, I don't see why this would be a probelm. IT might be a problem if you don't have NFX 2.0 Beta installed.

why not just have it tho? it doesnt affect anything else really... and it takes up so little space (what a few dozen kb's?) - and you might find it useful in the future ;)

Yeah, it's just when I downloaded it, it took away my quickbattle setup button, leaving me having to reinstall it for QB. I'll have a look at the SNS Galaxy and see if that will work.

wow, thats interesting... the only other thing i can think of right now is that you should make sure that you have all of the requirements

The only requirement is the foundation, and I know I have that since I can install ships. This is puzzling me now greatly.
